Ask Truck Norris (or whomever) whether or not that cam works better with VVT enabled, limited, or disabled. If I was redundant about tuning the Ecm, hopefully I was not about tuning the Tcm (transmission control module)? A thorough tcm tune reduces Torque Converter Clutch slip (regardless of...

    Knock sensor

Can you intentionally replicate this symptom by wiggling / playing with / annoying that wiring harness yourself? If you can, it's more likely the wires than the sensors themselves.

2005 tahoe z71 broken wire on MAF sensor pigtail harness

Provided you do NOT drive like an @$$hat during warmup, should be no problem (although you may not get any additional benefits from 89 / 91 / 93 octane until the wiring is repaired).

    Headliner Vents

Just checking: does your 2000 Tahoe look more like an '06 (GMT821), or more like a late '90s?

ecm tune should handle Engine Half@$$ delete. tcm tune should account for 'good torque converter' and delay transmission problems, provided you've been maintaining the ATF more often than GM suggested.

    Headliner Vents

No, they should be able to blow whatever temp you like, INDEPENDENT of the cabin temp selection. They do respond a bit more slowly than the cabin selections, but if the headliner can't blow hot after 15sec, it's a problem. Unfortunately I only know how to take this to a mechanic after checking...

    Child windows over ride?

This IS true for the shorter wheelbase variants. But that just makes it look like GM did not bother with any different parts for the bubbas / XLs / ESVs.

    Transmission Control Body Screen Fail

Please pardon what I'm about to do to your quote ... I can't answer your question, but ... your question makes me strongly suspect that GM is trying a software 'fix' because it is cheaper than a hardware 'fix'. Although the tcm in a '22 has gained in capability over the years, seems like GM...

    Child windows over ride?

That is weird. I get why they don't go down in Tahoes / short wheelbase versions, but you'd think they'd go all the way down in bubbas / XLs / ESVs. Hmm ...

    AFM Disable Options

When they connect to a car for inspection at the mechanic, they canNOT 'read the file'. They can only check checksums and CVNs. If those are properly edited prior to the tune being written to the pcm / ecm /tcm, the 'tune' will go undetected.

    AFM Disable Options

They don't do a 'tune check', because they lack the software to read or download the operational files from the pcm. They can only check checksums and CVNs. They had no idea the BlackBear tune was on it because the BlackBear tune had the same checksums and CVNs as GM OE.

Ok. So, unless the tune is so egregiously dumb as to roll coal, or some other blatant giveaway, how could they possibly detect an aftermarket tune, if the checksums and CVNs are same as GM OE?

O2 sensors should also respond PREDICTABLY to EGR activation and deactivation, 0% TPS decelerations, and for GMT900 & younger, Engine Half@$$ / Cylinder Confusion activation / deactivation.

    AFM Disable Options

The answer has nothing to do with miles at all. Each monitor has a different set of conditions for its self-test routines. When that self-test passes, it considers itself 'Ready'. Before the test, it's 'Not Ready'. (It can also fail its test, and throw a code.) Knew a mechanic in the mid-2000s...

    AFM Disable Options

Not yet, they can't ... Long story short: Any properly edited tune by a decently competent tuner (in other words they need not be 'expert', just smart enough to avoid dumb mistakes), using the proper software, will NOT be detected by California when they connect to your vehicle's OBD2 port. The...

    AFM Disable Options

So, is California failing for detecting an aftermarket tune, or for detecting Not-Ready Monitors? 'cause it sounds like they're detecting Not-Ready Monitors, which the 'tune' is not properly handling. That's NOT the same thing as detecting a 'tune'.

New thermostate and water pump, and coolant temp sensor. engine overheating

Did you burp the air out of the coolant? If you fill the coolant too quickly, air pockets get trapped in the system. Try to raise the nose of the vehicle slightly, then burp the air out of the coolant.

A 6.0L might be easier to find than a 6.2L, and should cost less Canadough too.

    Am I Burning Oil?

What else could it possibly be doing? Guessing you have not disabled the 'lazy cylinders' feature? From the research your engine has gathered, maybe try your next oil change @ 5000 miles? If an engine loses more than 1/2 a quart between oil changes, do the next oil change at least 500 miles sooner.

New to 4WD, any info and advice appreciated

I mostly agree with @Stbentoak, especially about bad weather (Auto), except once every 2 months I drive up on something very loose, like sand or dirt or the lawn of someone I hate, put it in 4Hi, and drive around for a few min just to use it instead of losing it.

    Emissions Test Issue

Look for whatever excuse to add more miles to your daily routine. When you do, keep the tank between 3/8ths full & 5/8ths full, so the EVAP system will more easily report 'Ready'.

    5.3L to 6.2L Swap

    Oil pressure issues

Change the oil as often as you can afford to - every 4500km should not be out of the question. If you can find Valvoline Restore & Protect motor oil, it purports to clean things up inside the engine SLOWLY, which may be exactly what you need. Most motor oil additives are mixed blessings /...

LZ1 Hybrid 6.0 into Normal Truck

GM has undergeared nearly every V8 vehicle they've EVER sold. CAFE MpG scores do NOT directly correlate to the real world. Look at the progression of the underdriven gears in the 4L60 vs the 6L80 vs the 8L90 vs the 10L80, then ask, why more forward gears, and why even more aggressive first and...
