    Ppv suspension to civilian question

If they work for a civilian Tahoe, they'll work for your PPV. Don't forget the 265/70R17 tires.

These? https://www.hubcaphaven.com/p/10369/stl8074-chevrolet-tahoe-suburban-police-wheel-steel-black-9596468.html Why not buy these, paint them black yourself, drill your own holes, save enough money to buy five instead of four...

Engine Used Oil Analysis Report & Filter Guts

Not sure what you mean by 'racing / corporate thing'? They do analyze their used motor oil far more often than normal people do, goes with the territory. You don't send off your used oil filter - no way to put a lid on it (yet ...). When you drain your oil from the pan, get some of that into...

    Oil filter for the 5.3

I used to avoid ALL Fram oil filters like the plague. I now avoid ALL 'base' oil filters, regardless of maker / manufacturer. Not Purolator - Purolator Boss. Not Wix - Wix XP. Not Fram - Fram XG might do, though.

    2012 Tahoe 127k can now hear a gear turning sound @ 25-40mph - SOLVED

Go to your trusted mech, have them put the car up in the air on a lift, and 'drive' it GENTLY, til you figure out where the noise is coming from. If, after 20min of this, you still have NO CLUE where the sound is coming from, check the front wheels.

Engine Used Oil Analysis Report & Filter Guts

We measure things that are EASY for idjits to measure, like distance traveled, or MpGs, then we act like those measurements reliably indicate how much wear and tear the engine / transmission / vehicle has accumulated. (3,000 stop'n'go Manhattan rush hour miles = how many thousands of highway...

    2005 Z71-Local CL ad

$30k is a wee lil bit much, but I'd be far more comfy blowing $30k on one of these compared to buying a brand new one for twice as much with 2x more unnecessary 'features' that could go wrong ...

    AC has me stumped

Yep. But also, if the AC system doesn't build enough pressure, or the pressure sensor is not reporting a high enough pressure, the fans won't turn on - even if the AC is commanded, even if the compressor is running.

Transmission Holding Lower Gear After Moderate to Hard Acceleration

Actually, it's very nice of the geartrain to wait for your input. What they used to do was assume you wanted the highest (laziest / least enthusiastic) gear possible.

    AC has me stumped

Yes, Yes, and ... NO. There are AC pressure sensors in the AC system that report to the pcm. These are the GM OE psi threshold settings for an '05 Silverado Lo Speed Fan-ON Threshold is 220psi , OFF Threshold is 150psi. Hi Speed Fan-ON Threshold is 310psi , OFF Threshold is 230psi. Doesn't...

    6.2L Lifter issue - ?

Point is, if the premium gas was a problem, it would be specific to THAT fill-up, and THAT gas station. Since premium made it run better, it already has some carbon buildup somewhere. However that is likely completely separate from the critical issue.

    6.2L Lifter issue - ?

Do you have any reason to suspect the premium gasoline you put in? Do you have any reason to suspect the gas station? Unless you genuinely suspect the gas in the tank AND the station that you got that gas from, (delete this post and) forget this line of thought, it makes no sense and can't help...

    Rough start on 1/4th tank?

Could be a nut behind the wheel. Fuel pumps are like fish - they live longest submerged in their element, protected from exposure to the air. Once was hangin out with friends, idling parked on a steep hill, gas gauge read a wee lil bit over 1/4 tank. In about 10min, despite there in fact being...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

You said 'lug' before, which implies that the engine would prefer a few hundred more RpM. I've seen 3.08 to be not quite enough, whereas 3.42 or more gear would make the engine share more effort with the 6L80 / 6L90, allowing even more time in the higher gears.

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

For now, would you mind if I focused on the last sentence (click to expand)? If memory serves, 3.08 & 6L90? By 'lugs so bad in town', are you implying that more axle gear would help improve city / metro / urban MpG? (I'm admittedly eager to infer it, but thought I should check with real experience.)

    8L90 Logic

Unless you can read and write in binary or hex, yes, you need a tuner's software with a definition file to interpret the changes you're making.

    Does a 2024 Z51 with 6.2 require premium fuel?

It doesn't retard timing, so much as it slows timing changes to give fueling a better chance of not going lean. Lean however does not automatically mean knock, but it usually means more NOx. In practice I've found that burst knock usually just dulls engine throttle response. The ecm never KNOWS...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

Don't make me blush. I'll NEVER own a new vehicle, (and I'll never get why more Tahoes & Yukons haven't had a skaly'd-oplasty). So I can only give you an idea of how to arrive at your own number. How much is a 200,000 mile 2015 bubba with a brand new 6.2L V8 worth? (Obviously more than a 200k...

2015 Yukon Denali - Engine Failure - Sell or Fix?

Motor rebuilding seems to want to relocate OUTSIDE of the mechanics' shops. When you buy a rebuilt engine, it had to've been rebuilt somewhere - just not where it was pulled out. Many transmission shops do pretty much the same today, at least here in NYC. They won't rebuild yours, much quicker...
