    Remanufactured Engines

This entire post should be considered parenthetical ... Every 4.8L & 5.3L should have been a different state of 'detune' for a 6.0L. Think about this: if the 400 horse 6.0L LS2 is a cheaper version of the 405 horse 5.7L LS6, 1) what is the 345 horse LQ9, or the 330 horse LQ4, compared to the...

    Remanufactured Engines

Why settle for a 5.3L? No one EVER regrets upgrading from a 5.3L to a 6.0L. https://www.powertrainproducts.net/ https://accurateengines.com/remanufactured-engines/ https://www.apspowertrain.com/manufacturing/remanufactured-engines/ But I don't know if ANY of those are near enough to you to be...

slight engine resonance through steering wheel

If your engine has the Cylinder Confusion feature, it should be happening. That said, if you are FEELING it, that is a Noise Vibration Harshness flaw, and it should've been pre-addressed by GM during assembly, well before reaching the showroom.

Go 3.73. If the RpMs wind up a wee lil bit too high, you can get slightly larger tires?

    An awfully imprecise representation of what you just said: 10L80: ... 4.69 ... 2.99 ... 2.15 ... 1.77 ... 1.52 ... 1.28 ... 1.000 ... 0.85 ... 0.69 ... 0.64 (7.32 Spread) 8L90E: ... 4.56 ... 2.97 .... 2.08 .... 1.69 . . . . . . . 1.27 ... 1.000 ... 0.85 . . . . . . . 0.65 (7.01 SPread) 6L90E: ...

    Plastic Engine Cover

Actually, it does, for 100% less time energy and money than you are about to waste on a functionally irrelevant piece of plastic. Ask ANY mechanic what THEY do with them.

    cam upgrade question

So, using 15w40, you got 16-20psi @ 500-600RpM, 30-35psi @ 2000RpM, & 40psi @ 3000RpM? More experienced opinions will chime in, and I will contradict myself by saying that too much oil pressure is at best useless and at worst counterproductive ... but I think you need to find out definitively...

    cam upgrade question

All of those are on the low side of acceptable, as in, most of us prefer a wee lil bit more. What grade of motor oil do you use, and when did you last change it?

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

What's wrong with the 6L90? NOT the 6L80E, the 6L90E - I thought that they did reasonably well behind the LGH DuraMax?

Tried to upgrade rotors; caliper bracket doesn't fit

With my '02 Tahoe I had to upgrade the pads rotors calipers AND caliper brackets by using the '10 pads rotors calipers AND caliper brackets. Guess what I'm asking is, are you using the newer caliper brackets? If not, try using the newer ones.

How many miles are too many for you when you buy used?

Depends on how often it was maintained; 7500 mile oil changes make me nervous UNLESS the miles are nearly all highway miles. Did they use a quality synthetic, or Wolf's pys, or crisco / wesson / whatever? When was the last time the transmission was serviced? How about the time before that?

    Afm

They are linked by a link. If the GM OE TCC slip factor is eliminated, and/or the TCC is upgraded, the driver and riders may notice the Engine Half@$$ transitions, but the TCC will last MUCH longer. Limit the use of the TCC to 5th and 6th at very light throttle, and the TCC will last even longer...

Maybe not all 6.2's have the bad lifter bore/ bearing wear issues

Agreed. Now where do I find magnets that would impress Max Eisenhardt, besides filtermag?

Let's sift through every square inch of a 2013 Tahoe PPV

The vehicles most likely to lose their catalytic converters are the easiest to get under. OK, that's not 100% true - catalytic converter thieves will find their way under extremely popular cars. But GMTs are not that hard to get under (especially for half-elves dwarves sylphs etc), AND they're...

Maybe not all 6.2's have the bad lifter bore/ bearing wear issues

That's depressing. Great idea, but there's gotta be a cheaper source for magnets.

How many miles are too many for you when you buy used?

Before you even bother checking the odometer, read 15burban's post again about rust, structural integrity, mechanical maintenance records, etc. All those are way more important than miles. Know what else is not only more important, but a better criteria than miles? Idle hours. Combine those...

What weight oil do you use in the South?

For whatever it's worth, I do think that CAFE MpG tests are the main issue here. They're why engines are getting smaller / turbocharged, they're why 8- 9- & 10-speed transmissions are a thing, they're why drive axles are usually undergeared in V8 vehicles, and they explain motor oils that don't...

What weight oil do you use in the South?

Never used Amsoil filters myself. Purolator BOSS PBL25288 is so much easier to come by in NYC. Both oil & filter have something to do with how quickly the motor oil gets from the pan to the top of the heads to lubricate the valvetrain, especially when cold. For the record, when I read 'Do you...
