Thread bump for the 1st year anniversary. Just returned from a 1200 mile road trip and I have no complaints in this first year of ownership, and 11k miles. Other than stuff previously mentioned in the thread it’s been oil changes and a new battery. So far so good :)
Filled up at Sheetz with regular 88. 15% ethanol and 88 octane. 3.09 a gallon I never see E85 or this regular 88 where I’m from. Bucees even had pumps for unleaded with no ethanol.
Nice truck and welcome. Which shop in Montclair? I’ve used Gaynor Transmission in Montclair and found them reliable. They do everything, but they specialize in transmission work. Had them hook up the computer and give you me idea on transmission health and flip the pill.
The problem with driving is inconsistencies. One driver likes to speed, one likes the limit and the other goes below the limit. You multiply that by however many people are on the highway at any given moment and you get what we get. I tend to drive a bit faster than most but hardly ever camp out...
Exactly what I said when I looked at it, “fn Firestone” lol a few pages back in the thread I realized my spare was toast and recently replaced the rim and tire or I would have been stuck.
Driving at about 75 on the highway I hear a bang. Start slowing down to pull over to see if I can see anything wrong and POW! Thhhhpt thhhhpt . Not sure how any of this happened.
I was able to bang the fender liner back in place away from the tire but will probably try to find one in a...
Maybe my eyes can’t tell the difference between 11 and 12 volts, I am of the reading glasses age now, but it def fluctuates. No more problems starting after sitting a week or more so I’m inclined to follow my mechanics advice that my system is operating properly. Hopefully it doesn’t leave me...
My brand new battery does this, but my failing battery didn’t. I was told this fluctuation is actually normal for the way this charging system works. It was explained that because my old battery was failing it needed to be continuously charged where as the new one does not need to be...
I would have went back to whoever changed my oil if I developed a leak afterward. Even if it turned out to be something else, I’m starting with them. Glad it was a simple fix.
Needed one of those when I lived in Brooklyn and parked on the street lol. You can tell a NYC street parked car by its chipped up bumpers. They even sell bumper aprons for the issue. Nice looking truck :)
I’ve read the battery cables on these can look fine but have corrosion inside, somewhere on the site there’s a post on how to test them. Corroded grounds have also been know to muck up the electrical system in these.
Until it got towards the end of its life cycle I had no problem with it sitting for a week or the rare 2 week period. Even if I don’t drive it I try to start it each weekend and let it warm up some. Keeping it garaged i would still need to run a cable for a solar set up but that’s not a bad...
