2012 Yukon 6.2 Engine Noise
Agreed with above. It definitely sounds valve train to me. You could try ATF, Marvel Mystery oil, or Sea Foam as an addive to the oil to see it it helps unstick the lifter. Sometimes you can get lucky if they have a carbon buildup that the detergents can dissolve. If it clears up, then drop...- B-train

Brakes drag, pedal gets hard when doing a slow turn
It sounds like you have a wheel speed sensor that is flaking out. Maybe a connector, or harness, issue when the wheel is turned. Those trucks were know for front ABS sensors going bad. They will trigger a false ABS stop - which feels like what you are describing. If it's been a western truck...- B-train

Why the switch to big rims?
Look on the interwebs, or FB marketplace for a set of take-offs. Usually can find decent deals. Then sell yours to someone who's all about dem dubs..... -

rapid rpm change
Agreed with all above. I was going to say similar in that it sounds like he's cruising at the TCC lock/unlock load and/or speed. Try running in 3rd at the same speed and see what it feels like.- B-train

Expedition Max to Yukon XL?
I haven't towed up mountains with my yukon, but I will say that long grades on dirt will get any vehicle hot. My overlanding truck is a 2008 Denali. Plenty of power with the 6.2L, but without a low speed transfer case, both the engine and trans get hot after several miles of steady uphill...- B-train

Can you turn off Auto Shutdown (eco mode)
It's a CAFE gimmick to raise the average fuel economy by a fraction of a mpg. It's plain idiotic in my book. Yes, it does create more wear - starter, battery, fuel pump, and probably engine components in the long run. Not to mention, it's a system that bypasses all previous factory safety...- B-train

Service dog - how can I leave the engine running when I'm not in the car for longer than 20 minutes
I know that ford has a very good upfitter PDF and there are tons of options available. I would think GM has the same. A lot of times there's a 'hidden' wire loom behind a kick panel that opens the doors to all things not CAFE related to actually make a vehicle work the way the END USER wants...- B-train

Anyone upgrade their axle ratios to 3.73's?
@swathdiver did you ever change up the gear ratios? I've been toying around with changing my 2008 Denali to either 3.73 or 4.10 and just make it a true mountain climber. I think these gear choices may be a better fit with not having 4-LO. Also, how do you plan to work around the front...- B-train

Do you use your rear-view mirror in camera-mode?
Ditto. I had a loaner with that option and tried it out.......made me feel like I was on an amusement park ride. It's NOT the same as a mirror in my book. I would never use it if my current vehicle had the option. Maybe it's something a guy can get used to, but it wasn't for me. -

As long as there is snow to drive on, that will provide the 'lubrication ' needed to let tires move how they need to. It's very possible you were feeling the tires slipping while turned sharply and looking for traction and/or relieving some binding. I've experienced similar over the years where...- B-train

Agree with the FOB stories, just figured I'd throw it out in case it has a stuck button or something trying to communicate. But, to your point, my wife leaves hers in her yukon all the time, sometimes for a week or more. It always starts. But, I did find out that if the FOB battery is weak and...- B-train

Power loss
Are there any engine codes present? Maybe fuel pressure? Also, a high flow exhaust may make the truck drive diffently than the OEM. Are you sure that you're just not hearing more noise than normal, leading you to believe you should be going faster?- B-train

Yukon xl vs sierra front struts
I believe they will, but I'm not sure about the ride compared to a suv. I'd check out car-part.com for a set of good used take offs. I found a set for my Yukon for $350 shipped to my door. They were rust free, OEM with 40k on them. 1 hour job to swap in.- B-train

I'll throw out the first pessimistic response..... While I think it's an interesting idea, I see many downsides to this option. (Without a pic, I can only speculate) 1. You will be having metal outside the rubber which could be prone to curb rash 2. The additional "rim" may be more susceptible... -
