I had the 6L90 in my 2015, 3500hd work truck. I absolutely loved that transmission. The torque converter did fail at 50k though (both 2015 trucks failed at similar miles?? The 2017s didn't have issues) It was replaced and then gave another 115k of additional service without 1 issue before...
I'd take KBB, or comps, and deduct 8k from the price with a disclaimer as to the discount. Then there is haggle room and both parties will feel good about it.
I would concur with the bad cats idea. After reading through all of this I remember my 2001 Impala with the 3.8L. All of a sudden after it was hot, I couldn't accelerate, would have engine knock, etc. Very much the same acenario you are experiencing. Ended up being a recall by GM for the...
Ar first I thought a rally truck, but then watching the landing almost hurt MY back. Dang, that was some insane airtime. I'm in the boat with @Fless on this one. Cool video though for sure. I'd think it would have awesome sound with it if it were a rally truck.
Mine are currently not worthy of a picture......they are dirty girls. We've had so much rain, that our driveway has flooded from farm field runoff about 6 times so far, so that means clay and gravel mix....... I'll just wash them before winter at this point.
Refer to my previous post (#4) about the MMO or equivalent. You can do this safely and don't need anyone to hold your beer.
I've done this a handful of times with good luck
Where exactly is that. It looks like in front of the hump for the rear seats? I want to do the same. With all the traveling I do, a 1 hour job in an auto store parking lot beats a tow and everything else that comes with it.
Looks like the fuel lines are close to the floor, or is that an...
Great story.....I like your sense if humor. I, too, am a fan of road trips in a nice machine. Stop by my place in WI on your next trip.....if your wife will let you. LOL
Or, drop the pan as far as possible with only a back bolt holding it loosely and suck it dry that way. I've done that on the 6L80 and usually get about 5-6 quarts out. Then button it back up and fill.
I did mine about 100k. The wires were the hardest thing to get off the plug porcelain. They came right out of the head no sweat - spun by hand once loose. These aren't like the Ford modular engines.
This......says it all. Good words @bobsburban
"As long as it's a southern (or western desert) car and the miles/year work out to it being a road warrior, I generally have no fear."
I feel the same way. A vehicle that is driven regularly for many miles will outlast a short trip machine in the...
Yep.......what they said.
I've done it both ways. Lower mileage with a 2 year depreciation before my ownership. With me maintaining it from close to day one, I've had really good luck long term well past the 100 - 200k mark. That cost more up front, but you're buying TIME at that point (a...
I concur on the bad lifter. 3 options:
1. Put some seafoam, ATF, or Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase (probably about 1/2 -1 quart). Let the truck idle with that in there and see if it quiets down. If it doesn't, once it's warm you can take it out and drive it fairly hard to see if the...
All good, my pleasure to help.
It's either/or. You have one or the other - bith go to the same spot. Easy enough to see if you have 2 cooler lines that run from above the oil filter area to the front of the truck to the radiator.
How many miles on the vehicle?
There are a number of oil related leaks that creep up as these LS motors get some time on them. You will eventually see lower than ideal oil pressure, leaks, etc.
1. Valley gasket and tower seals. Easy enough job for mechanical person. Replace oil pressure...
It's the inspection/ flywheel tooth access. There's a little cover that pops in. It won't hurt anything being gone, but just get one eventually.
The oil residue was what @RST Dana was referring to as a bigger issue. Usually oil dripping off the bell housing of the transmission means either...
