    8L90 at wits end

I have the 8 speed and like it in my 2017. It did have the stupid shudder, but that was fixed with a 20 quart fluid flush. Going out on a limb here, but what does the air filter look like, and have you ever cleaned the throttle body? Air restrictions can appear as driveability issues because...

Yet another reason to keep driving an older vehicle....

With all the issues we've heard of lately about GM's shortcomings on vehicles that cost as much as a starter home, it makes me happy to still own vehicles I can repair. Within a few years, those that want the brand new, shiny stuff may be at the mercy of the stealership for just about...

    2012 FD Rescue Tahoe LT

For that price if it's clean underneath I'd buy it, tune out the AFM, and have a nice daily driver

    Afm

I would assume so. But, if you have AFM turned off, it will never go there. It has a different slip map to allow it to stay in V4 longer and probably feel smoother to the driver.

    Afm

You could also put in a RANGE Device that disables AFM. I used one for 110k miles before I got HP TUNERS and it worked great. I'll let it go for a good price. Anyone interested PM me.

I think there are 2 sets of tables for TCC slip. One for V8, the other for half a$$ mode

Engine Startup Procedure rebuilt 2009 6.2l Denali (Rookie Question)

I'm glad it worked out. That's a nice looking truck. I'd do a motor replacement any day with a body and frame setup in that good of condition.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

I think that's the big, stainless, flex joint thar bolts to the ball flange. I don't think it's replaceable.

2012 Tahoe needs a new engine

I'm going to go with a bad lifter. There should be tension from the pushrod on the rocker arm and spring.

    Here's a weird AC issue

Maybe the control from the master isn't actually engaging the A/C. The rear calling for it may take a diffent path, or bypass the bad one? You probably need to replace the A/C control panel - seems common on these. Did it on my 2017 a couple years back already. In the Yukon it comes as one...

    Exact Build Date/Time?

Interesting......I live about 35 minutes from there and my 2008 Denali was built there. I always wanted to go on a tour, but was too late when closing was announced. The only thing left there now is a flat lot with an electrical service yard. It doesn't surprise me that GM razed it.....the...

2012 Tahoe needs a new engine

Pulling a valve cover is easy to do......don't need to pull a head. With the VC off, turn the motor by hand. It will tell if it's simple like @Fless mentioned. If it's not, then you have a decision to make. How many miles on the truck? Is it in good shape and has maintenance been kept up...

P0300 error after new plugs and wires

Have you tried putting the OE wires back on? Are you confident that you didn't Crack a porcelain on one of the plugs (most likely #8)? Just things I'd think of or try in this situation since it became apparent since this one task was completed

2012 Tahoe needs a new engine

Maybe a bad lifter which means low compression. Or a cam that is toast and can mean low compression. I'd ask how they came to that conclusion. What data can they show you, other than a code reader? Without more info, it sounds like a worse case jump to conclusions scenario with the highest...

Is this frame too late to save ?

I agree with @vcode in that the rest of the truck will be next. I applaud the effort shown here by @Coveman as well. I, however, will run away from that project because I know how much other metal there is that is just itching to piss me off with rust bubbles......

    Transmission selector bushing

Yes, I believe so. Once it's on the shifer linkage, then massage the bushings into the recess on the trans linkage until you can see the bushing pushed in there. Once that's done, you should be able to pull on the cable gently without it popping off. Then run through the gears a few times...

    GM SUVS as limos

^^^^^^^ this is an accurate statement. I said that for years working on ford and GM products. Ford is finally catching up in the quality of materials, engineering thought/layout, and overall finish.

Blackstone sample on replacement engine after 13k miles

I'd just go with 5w-30 and not even think about 0w oils. 0w-20 is only recommended for CAFE certification and mpg tests in a controlled environment. It's not recommended for long life in my opinion. I ditched 0w-20 at 40k when I bought mine GM certified and have used 5w-30 for the last 115k...

    Newbie be gentle

As @j91z28d1 said. Good info on here and I second his parts quality statements as well. If I were in your shoes, I'd price out a non-dod cam and corresponding parts, tuning (turn off afm), etc and see how it stacks up against a used, lower mileage motor. Check car-part.com for a good...

Is this frame too late to save ?

I've worked on TONS of the 8.1L motors in generators over the years. They run great. I've never run into one that has an oil consumption issue, or the crank sensor issue. If you did buy that avalanche, you could look for a used Kohler 125kw natural gas unit that has the 8.8L. It's a stroked...

Wow! That's some interesting stuff. What's you experience with it? How does it work long term for salt covered vehicles?
