What should i do about oil leak

$800 seems cheap. Having done one of these before, even with a lift and all the equipment I wouldn't do a 4WD rear main for that. I'd value my work more than that. Will they take care to not break electrical connectors? Will they replace both the rear cover and rear main? Will they clean the...

On first start nothing then after a minute will turn over

Yup, that's what mine was like. I spent a year checking connections and grounds. It would seem to "work" for a few months, then the same problem. This happened on at least 2 of my vehicles. Knowing what I know now, and given your mileage, I'd rebuild the starter. Looking at your other...

On first start nothing then after a minute will turn over

I've had to replace starters on all my cars once they got to the 150000 mile mark, so I'd not be surprised. The starters for the stop/start system are supposed to be much better. We will see about those ones.

On first start nothing then after a minute will turn over

What Dave said. A failing starter can work perfectly, then suddenly not work, then work again. If you are mechanically inclined, you could get a starter rebuild kit. The hardest part is removing and installing the starter. Rebuilding the starter is easy and can be done in less than an hour...

Outof curiousity, how did you empty the tank before dropping it?

    5.3l flex fuel extended crank

I'd check the plugs. I would use the sniff test to check because I don't know if the position of the injector would drip onto the plug itself. If it's a slow leak, it may not leak enough when the engine is running to affect the fuel trims significantly.

On Start Up Engine Continues To Try To Start-SOLVED

+1 for the fuel pressure gauge, especially when starting. I notice that it's a hard start the first time, but after that it starts much easier. This suggests to me fuel pressure is leaking down over time. I have the older style with the fuel pressure regulator. You're doesn't use one, so I...

    Towing Mirror Recommendations

Ah, I think it's only a mail order thing. I originally had them shipped to Mailboxes International then hopped across the border to get them. I'm sure they will ship to Canada. Shipping will be more expensive and you won't get away without taxes. That said, if you can wait and take your...

    Towing Mirror Recommendations

McKesh towing mirrors was recommended to me and I haven't regretted it one bit. They are stable and adjustable, and extend out well enough to see a single point 200' behind as required by some state laws. https://hensleymfg.com/product/mckesh-portable-towing-mirrors/

Part shows delivered to wrong address

I have had trouble before with RA and it is an even great PIA when your stuff is being shipped across an international border (USA to Canada). Unfortunately, RA is one of the very few vendors that will ship across the border. They do make it convenient by including the duties and taxes. When...

    Hatch glass hinge separation

Either you never use the hatch, or you are very lucky with the JBWeld. Anyone else who has used it found that the JBWeld is so brittle it cracks away after. I plan to redo mine this summer, but do a more thorough cleaning up down to bare glass. My only concern is how do I make sure the hinge...

The reckoning has arrived - big $$$

My father in law used to have a '60's Bug. He took it in to have a tune-up and the guy removed the engine. My FIL freaked out until the guy explained that it's so fast to take the engine right out and pop the plugs out and in!

The reckoning has arrived - big $$$

When we did the International, we removed the front grill so we could move it forwards. I suppose if he was able to spin it 90, that saved a lot of work dismantling the grill.

    Hatch glass hinge separation

Well, that repair lasted only a year. In the fall of 2020 the same hinge gave away. As I understand it, there is a primer I should have used on the old urethane sealant to ensure a good bond, or make sure I remove ALL urethane sealant. I also know that a 2005 hatch also fits, but the hinges...

The reckoning has arrived - big $$$

2nd picture.... Didn't know the Escalade was FWD with transverse engine! My father did an engine swap on an International Traveller. Delivery truck lowered the engine into the engine bay while the truck was in our driveway. Those were simpler days. Hopeful

this traitor got what was coming to him

I'm just going to wait until everyone declares bankruptcy then buy out their almost new Tahoe's for dirt cheap. A lot of people are going into huge home debt these days, and I assume many are taking on huge car loans as well. The $1000 Biden check doesn't account for people paying $20000 for a...

this traitor got what was coming to him

As i understand it, the Ford tensioner maintains its pressure using oil pressure. If the oil is maintained well, the oil ports remain open and the tensioner operates smoothly. If the oil is not maintained properly, the ports can become constricted or the piston in the tensioner sticks causing...

this traitor got what was coming to him

The same vehicle with the 4.6 V8 is actually a great vehicle. Neither Ford nor GM had great V6's. If the V8 is taken care of, they will go a long time.

    Cost of used Tahoes

I'm pretty sure if you were asking $15000 for a 2007 Tahoe here, and I offered $8000, you'd probably smack me. Also, I am comparing asking prices, and asking prices here in BC in 2018 were not nearly as high as they are now. Maybe CA asking prices were higher than anyone else?

    Cost of used Tahoes

First is a snapshot of 2007 Tahoe in CA, the second is in BC. Considering the Cdn dollar is worth about 80 cents, prices are comparable. The CA Tahoe would be about $13000 Cdn. BG might be correct when comparing prices from 2018, but I don't remember prices being this high in BC 3 years ago...

Not Sure If Your Rear Main Seal Is Leaking?

Ouch Ron! I'm not a big guy, so that probably would have killed me. I had a bit of a scary moment with my tranny jack. It was secure on the jack, but the tilt feature did not hold as I separated the tranny from the rear of the engine. Afterwards, I realized that the adjuster bolts had a...

Not Sure If Your Rear Main Seal Is Leaking?

Ah, come on.... ;) It puts hair on your chest! (unless you chafe it off trying to maneuver the transfer case... That sucker was heavy even with it's magnesium case....)
