If you can do it yourself, I would. When I had mine serviced at 35k, the dealer charged me $680 to change the filter and all new fluid. As others have mentioned, it take the ULV fluid. Next service, I'll be doing it myself. There were no good "how to" videos when I had it done the first time....
There are little tabs on the back side of the glass that locate it. Best I remember, a couple of pin type and then some rubber spacers glue on the 4 corners to help with the depth of the glass.

It's crazy that it was intermittent on the noise. I'd almost question their diagnosis. When my lifter would stick, it was a constant knock sound.
Quick tip (maybe). Tractor supply and a welding supply place here will fill propane tanks and they charge by the gallon. It's usually like $12-15 and the exchange price is $20-25. I never completely empty the tanks so it's a value for me
