The 0 offset will actually give you more clearance than the -12mm. This assumes both wheels are the same width, which looks to be the case based on the backspace combinations (both equate to a 9" wheel)
Going to give this stuff a shot for the emblem. Figure no silver will match my paint exactly, so a pattern may help it blend better with the vehicle. Hopefully won't seem ricey since it's a small area and thin letters.... we'll see
@01Konvict did you see my post earlier in the thread? I did a crappy microsoft paint molding delete. I keep going back and forth lol.
Will probably get some vinyl for the GMC logo and do that with the valence trim for a nice subtle change.
Thanks! Spent many nights researching and was really nervous, but decided to give it a shot and am really happy with how it turned out good.
Valence trim is on the task list for a day I'm bored (doesnt happen often with 4 kids, mtb racing, working 2 jobs, and house renovations underway in prep...
The roof rack? Its RhinoRack Vortex SX load bars and 1up-usa Bike Rack. Also have Thule cargo box but that's on the van right now.
I try to update the first post in this thread with the mod list. I eventually plan on adding links to jump to the install posts as well (been slacking there)
Thanks man. To you and everyone else giving support, it means a lot. I've been planning and working towards this build for a long time. With 4 kids and NJ living expenses/taxes every dime put into it has been carefully thought out.... and I've volunteered to work a shit load of overtime over...
Temps inside the truck fluctuate widely too ;), but I'd be more worried of bugs/rodents getting to them in a shed. I leave mine in, folded down with a towel over top of em.
Yeah the front end is still solid. The bigger tires and really crappy roads on my commute are sure to take their toll though. I'll be happy with anything beyond 100k. :)
Been a good week for the GSU. In prep for vacation where I planned on having my bike and a huge cargo box up top, I swapped out the flimsy load bars with Rhino Rack Vortex SX bars. The stock ones would flex so much with my bike alone that the bike racks mounting bolts would hit the roof...
Thanks!! It's been a busy Fathers day.... doin what dads do I guess (work on trucks/vans/bikes while the kids eat junk food out of my sight)
Wife came home with this little gem after her morning mtb ride
Finally got around to installing my AirLift 1000 bags. Two pictures are at 40 and 20 PSI. I'm keeping it at 20 unloaded, puts the back around 2" higher fully unloaded which is where I want it so I don't have to adjust when I have bikes or gear loaded.
40PSI
20 PSI
Government buys these to armor and transport people (high payload), not tow trailers. Thus towing capacity is sacrificed for higher payload rating to keep within GCWR limits
Did the gear wear pattern inspection, fluid changeout, and put the new cover on. I was a bit hesitant with the G2, but its a really nice cover!
Next up, install helper bags.
Down the road - double cardon front driveshaft, cognito UCA's, steering linkage upgrades
I ended up going with the G2 over the Mag simply because it uses 14 bolts. Not saying there's an issue at all with Mags use of 12, but when it comes to these vehicles in general there's so much confusion on which axles came with which models (14BSF 9.5, 14BFF 10.5, 14BFF 11.5) I didn't want...
No real pics to show, but possibly one of the best and most functional mods is now complete.
4.56 Yukon Gears installed. Can't really get on the throttle yet.... It's going to be a looong 500 miles! But it already feels great. No downshifting on the highway and still pulling over 13mpg...
