So good! I'll check out the video for sure. I've heard others say stay away from Monster and that I can rebuild the 4L60 myself with better upgrades. Ima save these notes for when I get to that juncture. For now, gotta figure out what I'm going to do regarding the gears and a few other items...
@Nick- such a great perspective and I appreciate all the detail you've included in the write up. I'm going to think on it. Since I'm in project mode, I'm leaning towards just doing the gears now and finding the money somewhere. Get the gears done so I can move on to the tuning. But if I don't...
@Nick- That’s not a bad idea they’re doing the rear 1st. I gotta gear & axle shop here locally that quoted me about $3k to re-gear the front and rear diffs, new bearings, seals etc. That’s quite the expense. Guess the other considerations is, run it lightly as is with the 3.73’s for awhile...
@NickTransmissions- 1 other question I had, was about re-gearing the front diff. I read somewhere that if your re-gear to 4:56 then you can’t utilize the 4wd option until you re-gear the front. Does that sound right?
All- thanks for the input. I should have added I am running a stock 4L60 transmission. Recently serviced the transmission fluid and filter, which was a pain in the *SS. Getting ready to install the Trucool upgrade cooler.

So the build is coming along nicely. Lots of hard honest work and lessons learned along the way. Exactly what I’d hoped for when I took this 4x4 project on. Thanks to this forum and other resources, I’ve had allot of support along the way. That said, I’m to the crossroads of re-gearing the rear...
So another issue I’m having, after the 6” Lift, my bump stops are riding on the lower A-arm. See pics. So I’m thinking I’ll crank up the keys a little bit, which gave me clearance. Took it around the block and right back to where I started, bump stops are back resting on the arm. Any thoughts...
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve heard others here say to get the panhard adjustable bar. Siphon makes one. What is the main benefit of this upgrade? What do you mean by re-center the axle?
So I completed my 6" lift, 03 Tahoe. Overall happy with the outcome. I would not buy another RC kit. I feel like they cheaped out on the bolts washers etc. It's a low-end kit, I get it. I'm on a budget so just wanted to try it for the project experience. Again, overall I'm happy with it...
Any suggestions on UCA’s for a 6” RC lift kit? I have aftermarket tubular ones on there now but I think they are only rated for 2”-4” kits. Will going up 6” require new UCA’s?
Thanks..
thanks for the reply. I guess the other question is, upper control arms. I bought some tubular aftermarket ones when I did the 2” leveling kit, but I think they were rated for 2”-4”. Any recommendations for UCA’s?
Doing some upgrades to my 03 Tahoe. 6” RC lift. I ordered new CV axles for a 2008 Tahoe based off some member recommendations. Question 1 is, do I used the CV axle spacers that came with the RC lift kit? I’ve heard some say yes and some say no.
Question 2, I’m looking for more of a squatted...
Right on Alex. I pulled the E-fans off my 05 Yukon, relay and harness. Conversion seems straight forward. The only uncertainty I have is the tune afterwords. I need to find a place to get it tuned. I saw a video where a guy got it to work without the tune, but most folks say gotta get the tune...
Thanks for the input. Wish I didn’t throw away my old one. Never had any overheating issues, but thought a new fan would help improve my AC at idle. Anyhow, need to just do the electric fan conversion and forget it.
So I installed a new clutch fan on my 03 Tahoe. Will eventually do electric conversion but for now I went with a new clutch from Autozone. Duralast I think. Gosh dang thing howls like crazy. So loud it drowns out the exhaust. I know it’s doing what it’s supposed to do but sheesh. Any suggestions?
Getting ready to lift my 03 Tahoe. Going with a 6” RC lift. Figure might as well rebuild the front end while I’m at it. Looking for recommendations on brand parts, I.e. TRQ, Detroit, Moog, etc. I’m trying to stay within budget also
So suggestions for the following new parts:
1. CV axle
2. Tie...
So I installed a leveling kit on my 03 Tahoe. New keys, shocks, upper control arms and tie rods. I’m overall happy with it until I go bigger.
One thing that bugs me though is the squeaking from underneath. Sounds like an old spring bed mattress. Creek creek… squeak squeak… increases when I go...
