I will take a look at this - I actually have 5 of these grills in the truck - 2 at driver (assuming one is the mic or environment?), 1 at passenger, 1 at 2nd row, 1 at 3rd row.
I'm going to play around with this a little bit - add some sound deadening and see if any improvement, and then likely...
Working on my cabin air filter now...but when looking up at the evaporator - what's the best way to clean this up? I saw there are sprays. I was thinking about using a brush. What are your thoughts?
It was mid 40 to low 50 degrees in the area after the first 100 miles - nearly all highway miles (all oil and a drop of water).
The next 150 was nearly all highway miles with temps mid 40s to just cracking 50 a day later (more moisture).
These are unseasonably warm temps for this time of year.
I was not expecting to have this much "latte" in my oil catch can after only 250 miles. Is that possible? The picture is a little misleading - it covers the entire bottom and is up the sides about 1/8”.
When I looked after about 100 miles it was just straight oil (wish I had taken a picture).
I didn't take the hook off...that's just the assembly as it's hanging to the ground. My tire never really got stuck...I did have to give it a soft kick and then it released pretty easily.
Well, I'm going to go down this rabbit hole over the next couple of weeks and do some overkill with it because I'm a little curious and interested. My brother used to do a bunch with acoustics, so I'm going to give it a go.
I agree that it's pretty quiet in the Denali. I don't have much in...
Yes, for sure on the sound deadening. I've been researching it over the past couple of days and maybe I'll start with that and then move on to speakers and the rest of the system next year.
Question on the sound deadening - in watching several videos, I've seen some people cover the entire...
I was actually looking on crutchfied and came across these infinity speakers - Kappa 603CF. I noticed some people in the forums here talk about infinity positively plus I liked how they had a 3 year warranty. The reviews sounded encouraging as well.
Was thinking of starting with replacing the 4...
Have a new question - I'm trying to get the most out of my Bose system in the Denali but don't want to replace the stock amp or head unit before I leave for my trip as I need to do a lot more reading about some of the issues like steering wheel controls, etc.
But I am interested in making a...
I actually just grabbed various fasteners from under the hood to test size - I took a 10 mm that was holding this support above the second battery location and it fit perfectly.
Anyone know what type of screw will fit these spots? Was trying to install my oil catch can, but the screw that came with the kit doesn't work.
EDIT: Figured it out!
@iamdub - quick question. You were helping me with big 3/4 previously, but I just don't see getting to it before I leave. But the one ground I haven't cleaned up and I'd like to have some redundancy on before I leave is that strap that goes from the firewall to back of the engine. Is there an...
@swathdiver !! How was your trip to monument valley? I expected nothing less from the truck!
I'd say for me, I have finished all of the core things you all have mentioned here and I'm just having fun tinkering and learning more about the truck...you know, I'm a little late to the party you...
Ok, so nothing catastrophic will occur at this point? I'm thinking I may try to tackle it once I get back from my trip. If I don't have to rush into it and take my time, I'm sure I could do it.
Ok, thank you for all of the info. This one at the back seems like is going to get past my capabilities. I don't see myself being able to successfully remove everything you did to get access and then get it all back together.
Any good tips if I wanted to give it a try, or should I just take it...
Ok, checked the exhaust manifold bolts. I'm pretty sure I'm looking at the right thing, but a little out of school on this. On the passenger side, I see all 6 bolts. On the driver side, I'm missing the one closest to the firewall. Pics attached. What are your thoughts?
Ok, so I haven't yet had a chance to spend any time on this yet because of work, but I had the car parked in my garage - the garage is heated and was at 50 degrees. Started the truck because we were heading out to dinner...and no tick at all.
I haven't yet checked the manifold bolts or...
This sounds so much like what I went through. I'd go 100s of miles and then it would show up. I turned traction control off in hopes that would do it - it all failed. Spend the time on the cables and I'm hoping it takes care of it!
Thank you! I will take a look and see if I see anything.
Should I be replacing all of the bolts, just torque checking all of them or if they are still holding assume it's fine?
Does torque spec of 15 ft-lbs sound right? I happened to see a video for the older model Yukon that stated that.
I'm curious about everyone's view of engine ticking when cold start on a cold day. Today, it was low 20s with a pretty good wind, so it was cold out. I decided to do a remote start because one of the kids asked about it and about 2 minutes later, I'm locking up the door and I hear the ticking...
