This was the thread closest to what I think is my issue. All of a sudden my oil pressure reads 80psi and stays there even at hot idle. Most likely the sender has gone bad. My question is does my engine have the screen that should be replaced? I don't have the 2007 type engine with cylinder...
This happened to me on my 2006. Turned out there is a flap in the vent system under the dash where the actuating motor went out. It was expensive to fix because I didn't want to do the necessary dash area removal and replace. It works fine now.
I found a broken bolt and used the aftermarket bracket method to "fix" it.
Additional reading on the subject indicated the GM replacement bolts are good and should last a long time, pointing to ARP not really necessary. The bolts may be hard to get out but a good mechanic can do it with...
I have the issue - worst on the top and hood but now showing up all over. Anyone here actually use plastidip - it seems like a reasonable solution? Another approach - There are a couple of good videos on the issue of the clear coat failure - the guy sands and re-sprays 2K clear coat out of a...
Curious, on my 2006 the rear axles ARE the inner races for the rear bearings. So to change the rear bearings completely you need to replace the rear axles. Right?
Hello again,
I figure it is time to change the AC and acc. belts.
I want to use the Gates Fleet Runner model for both belts. They are supposed to last longer.
Vehicle is 2006 Tahoe 5.3L non-Flex fuel with 105A alt.
It seems pretty easy to find the correct belt for the AC drive. K040378HD...
Dealers! is right. I needed it bad - I got it bad. The one good thing is Carfax showed all oil chainges were done at the dealer - that's why I bought it.
There is only one "flare" (clip-on type) on my 2006 Tahoe and that is on the drivers side rear.
HiHoSilver states that the flare I have...
@HiHoeSilver
Good points, the flare is probably from some other model of GM truck/etc.
So they got to me in two ways - probably cover a defect with a fender flare and used the wrong flare.
Also, there wasn't a B71 CPO code on the sticker in the glove box.
Standby for more info.
About 2 years I bought this 2006 Tahoe. I just noticed that one wheel has a flare what looks like the OEM B71 flare option. It is embarrassing that it took years to notice. A couple of questions:
- is the flare pictured below the B71 or flare option?
- if you get the B71 option (if that is...
Good points Bruce. I've been changing when I get to 20% or so. I should check the mileage. I agree that full syn. should be changed at 6-7k miles. I think Subaru just reduced the change interval to 7k for full syn.
Full - while you are in there doing the oil change it doesn't make sense to economize on oil type to save $10. Put the best oil in using the specified viscosity and change interval. Read the AAA independent report on conventional vs. synthetic oil.
I didn't figure it out and I think it went away - I haven't noticed it lately. I had some rear end work done and I pulled the rear drums to try and get more parking brake effect. During those activities something may have been rearranged. Sorry I can't add much.
I finally got around to getting the Lubelocker gasket and changing the oil. I removed the spare to make it easier to see what I was doing. First I pressure washed around the area. I cleaned the cover surfaces very well and installed the Lubelocker and then 2+ containers of Kendall Syn Super...
My 2006 Tahoe 5.3L, not flex has 123k miles. I got it with 100k miles and by the look of the plugs at 123k miles they were not changed. Prior to the change I noticed some hesitation in various conditions so I decided to change the plugs and wires. Before I made the change I took a 1000 mile...
You can go to http://www.toptiergas.com/licensedbrands/
Every brand I can remember is listed here as toptier.
Using gas with an octane number higher than what stops pre-detonation will not provide more power.
I've done both ways. When there is a metal "gasket" or "washer" then it touches and you can feel it start to bottom out (nearing the squish limit) - that's when I stop. I'd say all things being equal if you have a torque wrench that has the range you need then it is probably safer to use that.
Yes 0000 steel wool works wonders to get the window really clean. The problem I found was steel wool leaves very small bits behind and I was worried they could get in to someplace and start rust. Anyway I read about using the finest grade bronze wool and switched to that because it is reusable...
