It seems to just the software that comes "with" the dongle. I created an account and downloaded the software from iphone app store. I think the name is obdlink.
I might be able to use other apps - I don't know.
Anyone have an idea on the PID "name" for alcohol percentage? This assumes my non-flex 2006 Tahoe has a PID for that. I might be able to read a custom PID if the OBD Link MX+ doesn't have it already named.
I did take a look at having the injectors serviced/clean by WitchHunter.... I used them before but they are no longer doing business. I'm not the original owner but the original owner serviced at only the dealer per CarFax and that's why I bought it.
Thanks to everyone putting brain power on this.
Yesterday went for a ~100 mile trip and the LTFTs came down a bit.
I searched for non-ethanol gas near me and it looks like the 76 station near me has it. I'm going to go check it out and fill up if they do. I certainly will report back.
In the...
I was thinking along the same lines. However, in 2006 or a bit earlier the methanol was not mandatory. But it is a good question - Was the base map assuming 10%. I don't know where I would buy E85 around here. I'll have to google it and see.
Well, I have an evap code now because I drove with the purge valve unplugged. The purge valve was just replaced as part of resolving my original set of codes and CEL.
As mentioned unplugging the purge valve made a big change. Your rig looks in pretty good shape and low miles. I wonder what...
"T" I think it is not a flex fuel.
I did an interesting experiment today. Unplugged the purge valve and drove on the highway. The highway LTFTs went way down. Of course the CEL came on when I started it the second time. So it seems the air coming in the purge valve is not necessarily...
I expect the O2 voltage to swing back and forth across zero (~14.7 or whatever it is going for). The controller must be also swinging the injector timing - I would expect to see the wideband also swing but it might look like a ripple and not 0.1-0.7-0.1 back and forth.
The purge valve will pull vapors initially but soon should be almost "clean" air as the charcoal "dries" out. That's my understanding but I haven't seen any data on that.
My 4 O2 sensors are new, MAF is cleaned but not assumed to read correctly but does show expected data. The air filter was...
Agree but I may have figured it out. Something is going on because it is not zero.
@Fless mentioned something that came back to mind. I see a very consistent 9-12% LTFT values across all the driving conditions I use when on the throttle. I wonder if the base fuel map was originally set for 0%...
I'm not trying to cause controversy. Tempting to reverse engineer the algorithm to some extent. E.g. When and what sort of data ends up affecting the LTFT? There are a thousand nebulous opinions on the web. Maybe we can make some headway to a better understanding.
Mudsport - here are fuel trims at highway speed about steady 60-65mph on the flat.
I tried to hold a steady speed and throttle position to stay in one "cell" of the fuel map.
I would really like to see what others are getting - e.g. are you getting under +/- 3% LTFT?
I bet not.
Somewhat agree. Whatever vacuum leak (small) and/or fuel not getting fulling delivered this has been now compensated by the LTFTs leading to the STFTs to be rather close to zero.
Agree, if I had a "big" vacuum leak there would be a code by now and or the STFTs would be high (~20%) trying to...
Recent: cleaned MAF, 4 new OEM O2 sensors, new purge valve.
The motor is not flex fuel. I think the fuel I buy is 10% alcohol.
My Foxwell scanner has an issue (corrupted memory) and is a brick at this point. The "fix" /reset process isn't working for me. When it was working the new O2...
Here are three graphs of my current no load fuel trims, idle, 2000rpm, 3000rpm.
Why does the LTFT go up to 15-16% just because the rpm went up? The graphs span about 45 seconds.
I don't have any codes showing up but I don't like this.
Idle
2000 rpm
3000 rpm
Fless, I've checked the fuel pressure while driving and cleaned the MAF. I'm still getting 10-15% positive LTFTs. Sometimes I get 7% under certain conditions. I'm thinking I have a heat sensitive vacuum leak. No codes but I don't like the high LTFTs. One thing I can think of is getting out...
The oil pressure sensor is not very easy to get to. I had the correct socket from the previous time I replaced the sensor. I got it out and torqued in the new one. There is room to reach in and hand thread it to get it started. The sensor that came out had a lot of oil in the connector - I...
Thanks all. I'm planning to go to the dealer later today and get the pressure sensor. I'll ask re. what PN a new O ring is. I will also need a pan gasket. Are there better than OEM pan gaskets I should look at? I'll report back on how the new sensor worked. Thanks again, all good info.
