Well got Mjolnir back from the shop and seems like all components were working fine but it had about half the refrigerant in the system it was supposed to. Supposed to have 2lbs and it only had .96 lbs… They leak tested it and no leaks so not sure what’s going on there so we’ll keep an eye on...
Yeah the 15 -16 8 speeds from what I’ve found don’t necessarily go out but they just shift really wierd. It’s like the programming is never right. We are still fighting isn’t ours in the 15. The 17s still have the 8 speed but I know a few people with 17s that don’t have the shifting issues.
The...
Current Yukon pulls “Ellie” our 2018 Apex Nano 193BHS…
Which used to be pulled by our 2005 Yukon “Baymax”
Ellie is about 5,000 lbs when fully loaded. The Denali pulls it a lot easier with 125 more hop and twice the gears.
Drive it before you buy it and really pay attention to the transmission behavior. Make sure you get to start it cold and drive it first. The issues with that transmission is that it will have a hard 1-2 shift after first starting it. Also you want to look for surging between 2-3 or 3-4. Also pay...
There is a TSB for the 4X4 switch on the 15+ that it auto engages. It’s a simple reprogram. Not sure if yours is under warranty but if it hasn’t been done they may cover it at the dealer. Google bulletin 14616.
If you don’t have the integrated trailer brake to the left of the steering wheel than you have the 3.08 rear end. Im pretty sure the only way to get the 3.42 rear with the 5.3 is with the trailering package which came with the trailer brake controller.
Looks like the 3.08 ratio maxes at 6600...
I’d agree, if you want to keep the MRC then just swap with OEM which you can do one at a time for the failing components. If you go with something else you really should do all 4.
For us we decided keeping the MRC wasn’t worth it (my wife’s car) and bought the highest quality non MrC ones we could
I've seen a few people put these on and like them but also saw some concerning quality issues in some reviews. To my understanding, they are not an actually MRC Shock if that's what you are looking for. I think they are supposed to fool the MRC system and they are just a traditional shock/strut...
Just found this and our 15 Denali 8 speed does this too intermittently. We notice it when I go to decelerate from 80 like for an off-ramp example or if we drive over the pass to Reno and are on a downhill slope. Super random and it will happen the first time I apply the brakes and then not...
thanks for the tips on the sway bars. I might look into that down the road, but the handling is still confident and agreeable. It's just not as sporty as it was with the magneride. We have the 20" wheels for what its worth. Might be more noticeable if you have the 22s.
A few more days driving...
Yeah ours don’t seem to sound like they are spinning to fast…. When we remote start now and let it sit for a couple of minutes the air is not blowing cold. It’s just barely cooler…
Hey Rockerking, I think the stiffer ride is characteristic of the magrides, although I have heard that there is a softward update that seems to smooth things out on the 2015-2016 models. Might reach out to your dealer and/or do a search on the TSB number and start with that update.
Also check...
I've read a ton about the fans staying on and the faulty temp sensor.
Maybe it needs a recharge or has a small leak then... I just can't find much information as to why the fans wouldn't kick on into high speed. they kick on and off with the A/C on and off if I test that with the engine being...
Oh wow didn’t realize that. So what would trigger the high speed? It seems like the fans should be drawing more air while sitting.
It had the previous condenser replacement around 65k that was required on all these models.
Hey it’s been really hot here the last few weeks and noticed that the Denali A/C is struggling anytime we are stopped and won’t cool down when you first start it till you get moving.
Checking it out yesterday and I don’t think the high speed on the cooling fans is engaging. if I remember right...
Hey just introducing myself from Lincoln, CA.
Been a long time lurker on this site and thank you all for the wisdom and I hope to contribute!
We had a 2005 Yukon SLT for many years that absolutely loved and finally sold last year and picked up a 2015 Yukon Denali. Our 05 was rock solid and...
Hey long time lurker here, but I've gleaned quite a bit of wisdom on these forums and must say thanks. Time to engage and offer some of my own wisdom.
Just wanted to share my experience with doing the Magneride delete on our 2015 Yukon Denali since that seems to be a common topic on here and I...
