I have and towed a 5000lb enclosed trailer a lot early on in my trucks life. The trailer was pretty low profile and pretty aero as big old trailers go, most of the towing was summer months. I rarely saw 230 degrees, even on hot days through mtn country with extremes being as high as 240 for...
Probably depends a lot on the shop, rates, etc.
I have a really great independent shop nearby and I wouldn't be shocked if he quoted $1500 for the labor component. I think if I took it to our local dealer (who is perhaps the most cost effective dealer I ever saw), maybe $2000 in labor?
My first battery on my Yukon lasted like 7 years (new OEM from the factory). My second lasted like 5 years (high quality wet cell). My current battery (expensive Napa AGM) was looking like it wasn't going to last even to the free replacement warranty cutoff.
My guess is my use profile had...
I will keep looking in the manual for the connector pinouts. I also have the old O2 sensors that I took out recently when I changed all 4 and clearly can take pictures of the wire colors from the sensor to the connectors and what position on that connector it goes to. I will probably have to...
I can try and find the O2 sensor pinouts in my shop manual. Failing that, I can probably crawl under the truck tomorrow and take some pictures of the connectors, wires in and out, etc.
Mine fluctuates between 14.5 and a little over 12, depending on where my battery is at with regard to recharge after startup, current draw on that trip, etc. Perfectly normal.
Absolutely true.
We went into Macy's yesterday as we needed towels and the one's we liked were like 50% off. There was one person at the check out kiosk and a line about 40' long. The poor clerk was working her ***** off and no help.
When we finally got to the check out counter, I asked the...
Here is a video on one guy's approach. It is a Silverado 4x4, but the principles are the same.

The OEM gasket is riveted on (if it hasn't been replaced in the past), so dropping the pan is going to make removal of the old gasket easier. Also, in this video he explains a little about...
Yeah, I never say good thing I am old…. because all things being equal, young is better…
Sorry, got to run and do my back and hip stretches, that hip flexor has been killing me…. :)
I don't disagree with your logic, but then the OP's failure looks like the roller seized versus anything to do with AFM per se. I doubt there are any stats on how many collapsed AFM lifters there are out there, versus seized rollers, but I know it happens to standard lifters as well.
In the...
Very strange.
I have never gotten the "tighten gas cap" message, but have gotten the code/CEL and when I looked it up found my gas cap was loose, gave it a few turns and it all went away maybe 20 miles later.
I understand that point of view for sure.
I have been pondering this stuff for a while and I think the choices people make probably are driven as much by which set of fears dominate their thinking, as anything else.
Having lived a big chunk of my life off and on in CA and watched the state...
I am no expert as well, but if it were me (likely will be one of these days), I would budget an OE cam, all new OE lifters (updated AFM lifters), OE VLOM (updated version). I would also put a new Melling oil pump in (which would mean dropping the pan, so I would install the AFM relief valve...
You are going to get a lot of advice to do an AFM delete, Black Bear Tune, etc. Just be aware, CA is really starting to turn the screw on emissions compliance (and not just that your Truck doesn't produce any more smog than a stock one), they are really starting to look at any mods very tough...
I think for me, it is a weight distribution concern. Trailers with a lot of weight in the rear can be kind of squirrelly and once they start to sway, things can get out of hand pretty quickly.
There is a very informational thread started by @Geotrash on this very subject. I would give it a read. At a minimum, it will give you a good basis of understanding of the dynamics involved and alternatives...
You will need detailed service records to have anything approaching confidence you are getting what you describe as your goal. Even then, unless it has had the AFM Oil Consumption TSB completed, you have a fairly big exposure sitting there on that front, maybe look at 11-13 model years to be...
