Swapping exhaust on a Denali 6.2: who here kept their old one/how?

I think I would just bring a battery operated Sawzall (or just a hacksaw and some elbow grease) when picking the old setup at the dealer and cut it on each side of the long runs in front of and behind the muffler (on the straight parts not a curve). That should yield three pieces that will fit...

    WHAT FLUIDS FOR 2022 YUKON XL 5.3 4WD ?

FWIW (pretty sure what you are paying for it), on my 2007 Yukon, which towed a 5K enclosed trailer pretty much every mile for its first 60K and while I do change my transmission and transfer case fluids on GM's "severe" schedule, I have never touched my diff's and have never heard a peep.

    WHAT FLUIDS FOR 2022 YUKON XL 5.3 4WD ?

The transfer case takes synthetic ATF (like Dextrin 6). I don't think you will find a spec for the diff's in the owners manual because GM doesn't have a change interval spec for the diff's. On another forum a guy who identified himself as a retired GM engineer posted that there is not change...

Anyone Use E15 / 15% Ethonol in their 5.3L Engine?

My Flex Fuel 2007 Yukon runs better on E85 (more like E75 here, when I have tested it) than E10 or Ethanol free. The mileage hit isn't made up for with lower prices as there is a paucity of E85 stations, so the guy that sells it (one here within reasonable driving distance) isn't trying very...

    2022 Z71 Suburban 6.2L bent lifters

You won’t get an argument from me with regard to the hamfisted way GM has dealt with this issue. On the other hand people sit back and make generalizations regarding the “lifter problems”, like these lifters are just waiting to fail. That is just flat wrong. GM has built over a million of...

    2022 Z71 Suburban 6.2L bent lifters

If it were a design problem, the failures would have started in the ‘19 model years (when the L84 and L87 was first introduced) and carried through ‘20, ‘21 and ‘22 with a distribution likely similar in each year. While I understand your disappointment in getting what you considered a...

9111 miles.. here I sit at dealer 500 miles from home

When Mercedes took my wife's car back under the CA lemon law, they paid us what we paid new, including tax and license. That was 3 years after she drove it off the lot new. Sounds like SC law is similar to CA.

9111 miles.. here I sit at dealer 500 miles from home

Think they might let you drive what you have, until the replacement is available? I mean, it likely is headed for a salvage title, so no rush... :)

Hard to argue with that. Good Luck.

So I guess the F version is where they stipulated to do 1 bank only if the ODO is over 8K? Did they give you the text of that version? In any case, looks like @killjoy should get all 16 done as he has only 3K.

The TSB is PIP5776E. I could not find the text online. Your dealer will know pretty quickly what is going on and will know to replace all 16 lifters. If he is fuzzy about that, insist he look up the TSB and understand GM's guidance that he needs to replace all 16.

    2nd time Lifter Failure... 2021 Yukon AT4

My guy at our local dealer doesn't see it that way. I posted this on the other thread you just posted on, but if you could post the name and location of your dealer, I would love to have my guy give them a call for his own edification. Right now, he is convinced, once you replace all 16, the...

What is your dealership's name and location? My dealership was one of the earliest to deal with the issue with one of their fleet customers who had a number of trucks with bad lifters. My guy is convinced, through their experience, that once all 16 are replaced, the problems will not reoccur...

Electric Suburban / Electric Tahoe / Yukon / Escalade EV

In my last house, the original owner was a bit of a prepper. He had installed a Generac 40kW propane powered generator, all the transfer switches, etc. It worked really well, but when I considered how many times we actually had it come on (versus all the maintenance, etc.), when we built our...

Electric Suburban / Electric Tahoe / Yukon / Escalade EV

It always tickles me when someone points out the "deal breaker" for EV's in our future. For me, my pet "deal breaker" is the grid. I really believe a collision is coming between the reality of "sustainable" energy production deployment (which tends to be legislatively driven) versus real world...

Electric Suburban / Electric Tahoe / Yukon / Escalade EV

I heard an interesting analysis of this offering (and the legacy manufacturers move to EV in general) this afternoon on CNBC. Specifically to the latest GM announcement, the analyst was saying that the Ford lightning looks to be the leader as it was out first (between GM and Ford) ad should...

Is the eLSD a "requirement" for Overlanding and Off-roading?

That might be right. I have read posts of people that have the G80 RPO called out but with their window sticker saying, "limited slip differential". On my '21 Sierra AT4, the RPO is G80 and the window sticker calls out "auto locking differential", which I think is the Eaton MLocker...

Is the eLSD a "requirement" for Overlanding and Off-roading?

Got it. Is the current G86 the Eaton TrueTrac? If so, it is a really good diff. Also, is that just on the SUV's?, as my '21 Sierra AT4 has the G80.

Is the eLSD a "requirement" for Overlanding and Off-roading?

Your G80 will work great. When traction starts getting iffy, turn off traction control, you will be amazed how well the G80 works. On my 2007, a 1.5" level spacer up front (actually a little less than 1" thick spacer inserted under the front struts resulted in a 1.5" level) and a trim of the...

    '21 Tahoe Z71 alignment - anyone else?

Sounds more like positive camber than toe. You can see if the camber is negative/positive pretty easily, a straight edge that is just the length of the wheel diameter, a level and a flat piece of concrete to park the truck on will tell you a lot.

    2nd time Lifter Failure... 2021 Yukon AT4

When your truck was built isn't the governing factor. When your engine was built is the important factor. Many trucks have sat uncompleted waiting for various parts, such that the normal "few weeks" between engine completion and truck completion doesn't always apply to these trucks. Many have...

    2nd time Lifter Failure... 2021 Yukon AT4

The pushrods bending has nothing to do with harmonics or design flaws. The push rods can be bent because of the failure mode of these particular lifters (some of the time). Historically, when an AFM lifter fails, it fails to lock back into normal lifter mode. The top half of the lifter moves...

Actually, that is a good point, just shutting down AFM would solve the problem pretty painlessly.
