    Thanks. I had looked all over for a cooler add on and didn't actually find one so I suspected it was the standard deal. Been looking for the lower temp transmission thermostat but it's out of stock or on backorder everywhere that I've looked.

    Looking at the RPO codes on our 2019 and I see KC4 and KNP for engine and transmission coolers. Are these standard equipment on most Tahoes or an extra cooling deal. This a 5.3 4x4 and 6sp with trailering package but a 3:08 gear.

    The Vega, the iron Duke in the Fieros, piston slapping 2.2s in the S trucks, 2.5s in the Nox and Terrains. Their good four bangers seem to be diesels from Izuzu. Can't get too excited about a crew cab Silverado (or a Tahoe?) with a four cylinder engine.

    I notice in all the current ads for the trucks they all push the high output turbo engine, no mention at all that it's a four cylinder. Considering GMs reputation with four bangers I can understand why.

    5.3 Oil Pressure Advice

    With the mileage and the oil consumption I'd change the oil more often. Probably getting some blow by and oil contamination that is breaking down the base. I'd go no more than 4k miles. What weight oil are you using? Otherwise I'd live with it.

    Used to use ATF in five speed manuals as listed in owners manuals. The Tremec TKO was originally spec'd to use ATF. I wonder if the new stuff would be better, or worse, in high pressure gear sliding contact and good syncro action?

    Going up this hill and maybe heavily loaded you were probably in a lower gear than normal for a good while. Could be just normal heating of parts that usually don't see that condition? A good visual inspection might show something but I doubt it.

    Ours came with Michelin energy saver tires that have 8/32 tread depth brand new. Didn't like those at all so went with Goodyears. Now at 25k miles on those and they have 9/32 tread evenly and run perfect on the open road. These days Goodyear or Michelin are now my choices for tires on anything...

    Any time I'm cruising around town I do that too. I don't like feeling those four cylinders lugging when lightly accelerating. I've read that that puts those cylinders at near 100% load. Loading up the engine like that should be for eyeball flattening fun I think.

    I've noticed around here lately there is a huge demand for auto repair these days. A lot of the work is not the high tech stuff but more routine repair that people just don't want to pay the $100 an hour dealer shops to do. Good independent shops are super busy these days.

    Rim rot. Wheel coating issues

    I'm a big proponent of winter wheels and tires here in the snow belt. Preserve the good wheels that way. Maybe not too practical with today's TPMS programming hassle? But the dedicated winter tires are a real comfort when it get real nasty out and I have to get to work.
