Did you get a copy of the repair writeup? Be interesting to see what all they replaced and how much labor was used, etc. Shortblock, longblock, complete engine, gaskets, fluids, bolts, mounts etc.
Testing at GM showed around a 1 mpg increase when the voltage drops like this. There is a program that controls this, after fully sated charge it can drop for about an hour, then jump back up for several minutes to reactivate the battery charge. Or something like this. I've seen this on our...
For an engine with this mileage I'd sure assume it was not an assembly screwup, bearing failure, oiling problem, or a machining deal. I'm guessing it was a casting shift, several heat cycles and the block distorted a couple thousands of an inch. Rebuilding the motor won't guarantee it's done...
I did find one at Hendricks and the order process went all the way to shipping, but at near $40 shipping for that little piece of jewelry, well, still looking.
Anyone have any luck actually ordering the trans. temp. control valve lately? I've been all over the net trying to order this and just keep going around in circles. GMpartsdirect's cart only offers a quote via email, then goes back to the order page, click to get email quote again, no way to...
Hate to ask but why the teardown? Just checking or a problem? I'm on the fence with reusing bearings, have to think about the "crush" that keeps them solidly in place.
Hopefully they'll replace the motor, or at least the shortblock. But the labor charge might make the engine switch more likely. I wouldn't accept it with the OE motor repaired.
I wonder with the major shortage of the "chips" used in these vehicles if they are accepting lesser quality in order to fill orders? With something like 1400 "chips" in a modern car and each one with hundreds of components, just one substandard capacitor cause a glitch in any system.
The premium gas is a concern, but I do run at least mid grade in our 5.3 and Sams Club usually has premium for the same price as mid grade - so I fill up there when I'm in the neighborhood.
We peasants are more interested in reliability and efficiency than thumbing our noses at the neighbors. At least those neighbors we don't want to punch in the nose. But I'd vote for a 2019 or 2020 with around 50K miles or less.
On my 2019 I've been watching the temps and so far I've seen a high of 180. That's in mostly a high of 70 degree weather. I looked at the thermostat and it doesn't have any markings so I'm guessing it does have the higher temp unit. Probably be changing it out before summer. The TSB that...
They list it on the service report. I' d guess it's a drive over toe in check? Pretty new dealership though and I wonder if they would have that, be kind of an old machine.
We had a '14 and 2017 Terrain with that V6 engine and I sure agree, perfect power plant for those machines. Great gas mileage and pretty amazing power. Liked those little SUVs but we needed more room now.
Can't answer the question but the one car wash I took ours to seemed to be made for a compact car. I thought it was going to blow the windows out. Real good water leakage test and it passed with flying colors - but never again. Thought the dryer blowers would remove paint.
I agree. I'd hate to pay that price and have the machine gutted and reassembled - even by a well experienced technician. If they have a tech. who is experienced in that procedure.
Yes the pinion bearing is, but if the lube/fluid was nice and clear I'd say the noise is not back there. Never seen yellow transmission fluid in a GM product.
