What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

You mean the small Torx screw on the front rotors? Nope, absolutely no difficulty at all. Wasn't even an afterthought, that's how easy it was.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

All new brake pads and rotors installed today. Breaking the caliper bracket bolts loose was EASY, thanks to my new 18" flex head ratchet. I'm not saying they weren't tight; they were indeed frozen shut and with Loctite, also not to mention I did the work in 25 degree weather. What I'm saying is...

Best air compressor for truck work?

Update: brakes done. The key? It was indeed the 18" flex head ratchet. Breaking the caliper bracket bolts loose was EASY. I'm not saying they weren't tight; they were indeed frozen shut and with Loctite, also not to mention I did the work in 25 degree weather. What I'm saying is that I was...

GM is buying back my Yukon

You want a GM vehicle? Find a good, used previous generation (GMT-900) platform Yukon or Yukon XL/Denali. I steered far away from the new platform because of the ridiculous issues it has, mainly buffeting. I bought a 2012 Yukon Denali for $38K. It took me about 5 months to find it, but it is a...

Help a newbie: air tools & compressor

Believe me, I'm on the same line of thinking. But for me, it would be useless if I can't get it behind the knuckle to get the caliper bolts out. I'm doing the brakes tomorrow, and doing it all via hand tools. I never had a flex head 1/2" driver, so I'm hoping the new one I bought which is...

    13'LTZ Tahoe..

lololol Really, I'm chill, but there is something about dishonest car salesmen that really tick me off. I cannot even begin to tell you how long, far, and wide I searched when I was looking to buy my truck. I came across exactly TWO honest salesmen over more than 30+ dealerships I went to. One...

    13'LTZ Tahoe..

I bought my '12 Yukon Denali XL with all the bells and whistles, for $38K in December. It had 34K on the clock. I can show invoices to prove it. $42K is a blatant ripoff for a '13 Chevy. And a Tahoe at that, not even a Suburban, or even a Denali.

I agree. If it's anything like my build, it will look like this.

Best air compressor for truck work?

As always, great points. Thanks Mark. I took your advice and simply bought some better hand tools. A 1/2" flex ratchet which is long enough to be used without a cheater bar, which is what I'll use to break the bolts loose. I watched some YouTube videos on changing the brakes and almost every...

Help a newbie: air tools & compressor

I tried this on my 2013 Impala LTZ and breaking off the caliper bolts was an absolute bear. It took me half a day on a hot summer day, with tons of elbow grease and dreaming up a contraption where I used the leverage of a hydraulic lift on the end of the ratchet + pipe to get it cracked off...

Help a newbie: air tools & compressor

I guess the question is this. For me, I'd want to get that cordless gun behind the rotor area so that I can easily get the caliper bracket bolts off, which I'm assuming are going to be frozen shut on my truck. Will I have enough clearance to get it back there?

Best air compressor for truck work?

Hey Mark! How are ya? Hope you're doing well bud. Budget? I'd like to spend no more than $300 if I can. I'd rather put that toward the brakes. There was some talk in another thread, maybe I can wing it just using a cordless impact wrench...

Best air compressor for truck work?

Appreciate the response. I looked at 12CFM compressors and they are cost prohibitive. I'd definitely spring for it if I was constantly in the garage, but I'm just a fly-by-night mechanic doing work on my own truck. What's a good compromise? Maybe 6-7CFM at 90SPI?

Best air compressor for truck work?

As title states. I've decided to quit working so hard physically and instead invest in something that can let me work and get things done smarter/faster with much less effort. I'm sick and tired of wasting precious time/energy brute forcing things and injuring myself in the process most of the...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yeah, exactly guys. I was just more than a bit surprised to see the oil like this. Usually after I buy a car, it's 3K miles for the first oil change, 4K for the next, 5K+ onward. Also, in my 2013 Impala LTZ, the OLM was fairly accurate. I know that it's not 100% to be relied on though, so I...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Changed the oil in my truck for the first time since buying it. The oil was PITCH BLACK and so heavy/dirty it almost overflowed the oil drain pan I was using because it was so thick it didn't want to drain down the center hole. And the oil filter? It was practically SEALED on. It was so...

2012 Yukon Denali rattling (with video)

Update to this: It happens so infrequently now that it's not a bother anymore. It's not eliminated; it does still occur, but not like in the video at all. Happens maybe 3-5% of the time now. It was definitely a combination of things: the bad, unbalanced tires/wheels, that taillight trim, and...

LED headlights w/ fan behind dustcover?

All I can say to this is "to each his own". I certainly understand and respect the decision you've made; only you can make it, and if it works for you, that's pretty much all that matters. That being said, what it comes down to is basically everything I said in my last post. In addition, the...

LED headlights w/ fan behind dustcover?

Initial $$$, but if you compare how much it cost to let's say replace a Cadillac Escalade headlamp, it's about $1k PER side, so you're looking at $2k or more for a replacement, should something go bad. $1k for a retrofit with your choice of options is really not bad at all. I think the...

LED headlights w/ fan behind dustcover?

Don't do it. It's the wrong way to get better lighting. You'll be wasting your time/money, blinding other drivers, and not to mention, it's illegal. Do this instead. http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/new-bfc-retrofit-headlamps-installed.89909/
