    I would either do the litter removal because when the lifters are going back and forth from v4 to v8 mode they are functioning. There are members on forums that still have lifter failure with the range device.

    It could possibly be the vibration sensors in the foam. You could detach the front clips and move them around. You may need to push the sensors back up. I replaced the front seat foams and leather covers on my truck and everything is solid. Check my post a few posts back.

    Too much rust?

    It could get under control this way. I would spray every week WD-40 for a few months then undercoating. If you get 2-3k off the price it may be worth tackling.
