I read up quite a bit before attempting the Pitman arm - and after trying to get the puller I had on the thing - with the steering box still in the truck - I came to the conclusion that the only way it was going to get done was by removing the steering box.
The job ended up being pretty easy on...
I had a similar problem (not able to hold a steady straight line) in my 2010 Yukon XL 2500.
Since I drive the truck almost every day - and have limited time to work on it between work and a 1yr old at home, I replaced almost all the front end components on a piece by piece basis and...
It's a PML pan.
https://yourcovers.com/transpan_11036.php
It was a little bit of a pain to get installed. But not as bad as most of the descriptions made it out to be. I jacked up the rear of the transmission to try and make some space to sneak the pan in there - without disconnecting the...
I just flushed the fluid on the 6L90 in my 2010 Yukon XL 2500 a few weeks ago.
First I sucked all the fluid out of the pan using one of those Mityvac tall cylinder type fluid excavators. Then I dropped the pan - installed a deep pan - and a new filter.
Filled the pan up again until I had...
Hoping somebody here can at least point me in the right direction on this........
The power liftgate on my 2010 Yukon XL refuses to open.
I think this is something that has been going bad for a little while - because I noticed on occasion over the course of the last 6 months or so that the...
I'm hoping that somebody knows the answer to this - or can point me in the direction of somebody who might know the answer.
I have a 2010 GMC Yukon XL2500. I would like to upgrade the brakes - and have looked at the Wilwood stuff as well as a bunch of other aftermarket upgrades. The Wilwood...
Especially in a Tahoe - where if you want to carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood or something like that - you're gonna have to leave the gate open. The lack of a flat fold down 2nd row seat is going to tilt the plywood down - and it's going to be more likely to slide out of the back of the truck. My...
If carrying stuff in the back is one of your concerns - and you don't want to go up to the Suburban / Yukon XL body size , then you should probably factor in that even with a bench seat in the second row position - the GMT900 trucks don't give you the flat cargo area that you get in the GMT800...
Did you hook the OEM camera up to the Pioneer?
I didn't have Nav installed on my truck - so the rear view camera displays in the rear view mirror.
My understanding is that the video feed for the OEM camera is accessible behind the passenger side kick panel. So that video feed would have to be...
I did use the small round black speaker that came with the Maestro kit. I ended up using the sticky pad that comes with it to adhere it under the dash around the console. I didn't try not using it , I guess I thought I had to - to get the chimes to work. Mostly what it seems to work for is...
My truck has the factory rear camera - which shows in a small screen in the rearview mirror when I put it into reverse.
At the moment - that setup is still working. What happens when I put the truck into reverse is that I get the cam view of the rear camera in the rearview mirror still - and...
Yes. I pulled the head unit out the next day - and found that the black datalink cable coming from the Maestro to the back of the Pioneer - was disconnected. I think I might not have fully seated it when I originally installed the head unit - so when I pushed the head unit into the dash it...
Saying "modified fit" for the Alpine makes sense - during the install some of the tabs need to be cut off the sides of the HVAC module and the switch module below it in order to get the Alpine faceplate to fit.
I still have the factory Bose speakers and amp. Honestly - I'm not sure if the sound is any different or not. I've got 52 year old ears - and I'm sure I'm partially deaf because of working in loud environments for so long. I also never used the CD on the factory radio (best source) .
I can...
Oh yeah , the hidden bypass feature detailed in this video:
Seems to work perfectly. I was able to have the wife enter nav info while the vehicle was in motion when I took the truck out for a drive today.
If I remember correctly Crutchfield specifies the Metra kit - which according to some of the previous posts on this thread, didn't allow the front panel to open.
Crutchfield is selling a service and promoting themselves as the experts in this stuff as far as fitment and all the details on...
I suppose that depends on your point of view.
The first car stereo I installed was like 35 years ago - and I don't remember ever installing one where at least a little bit of modification was not needed. Crutchfield used to consider this when posting their "fit or doesn't fit" evaluations -...
Well Crutchfield is wrong - I just installed my 8200 today - and it fits (with a little cutting at the back of the mounting hole) - and the fold down face opens with no issues using the Scosche mounting setup.
So I finally had the time to get the AVIC-8200NEX installed into my 2010 Yukon this weekend. With the help from a few videos I found on Youtube (mostly around how to get the trim apart) - it was pretty straightforward. I took my time and got interrupted a few times but overall no big problems...
Crotchfield lists the Pioneer AVIC-5200NEX & the AVIC-6200NEX as fitting my 2010 Yukon XL - which should mean they will fit all the GMT900 trucks with the center dash console. I cross referenced the dimensions of the head units for the 5200, the 6200 and the 8200 - and they're all the same...
Did you ever get the 8200 installed?
I ran across this thread while doing some searching to see if the AVIC-8200NEX would fit in my 2010 Yukon XL. Crutchfield claimed that it would not - but then I found this thread and a few others where people had done it.
I just have to pick up a few more...
