What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Got to play as an EOD tech. today. Happy to report I didn't blow a hole through my face. Swapped in some 5100s in the front, but as usual the old nuts/threads were rusty/crusty. Everything was a fight, but I figured out an easy way to get the old shocks apart. Just use a sawzall and cutting...

    Oil Pressure Sensor Rerouting

You could install an analog gauge in-line, to verify pressure once that sender unit fritzes-out. Can you post a parts list for us?

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Without the Range installed, did you try shifting into 5th gear - Manual Mode? That's supposed to disable AFM, which is fine for around town.

    Leveling kit Differences

I'm going to be installing 5100s in the front, and will be ditching my Rough Country level kit horseshoes also. 1" spacer = 2" lift

    New Suspension creaks and squeaks

Yeah, my ride is fairly squeak-free.

    New Suspension creaks and squeaks

Poly bushings squeak and squeal. Did you apply any lube to them during installation?

What cam did you go with, why, and do you like it?

Yeah that stinks. I remember those days. At least your health will be better than 2nd or 3rd shift, or god forbid the 12hr swing-shift....that was hell.

    Rear end gone???

So, to recap, just so we're all on the same page: OP did not set the parking brake, or caulk any wheels before disconnecting the driveshafts?

What cam did you go with, why, and do you like it?

Long-tube headers would really help down low. Probably more than any cam could. Why not find a junkyard 6.0 and swap it in?

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I've also been playing around with the kid's super-basic 3D printer, trying to iterate some replacement center caps for those aftermarket wheels. Black Rhino doesn't sell them any more (I asked) and other companies want $30+ per cap, which is dumb. My printer only prints in weak PLA, so there...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Black Rhino Peak (officially discontinued) that came on the car when I bought it. Black Rhino doesn't make them, but you can still find them online: https://tireswheelsdirect.com/product/peak-2/ They allowed 33" BFG KO2s to fit with no lift/level, and no rubbing. You'd need hub-centric spacers...

What cam did you go with, why, and do you like it?

https://www.texas-speed.com/c-3251-camshaft-packages_chevrolet-silverado2500-2008.aspx Can you link your product webpage here? Whenever I search for my year/make/model the TSP website directs for Godzilla 7.3 cams.

What cam did you go with, why, and do you like it?

He (Richard Holdener) was selling several versions of his Low Buck Truck cam. One was an NSR version, one was the regular version (my purchase, which required upgrades valve springs), and a high-lift version. I don't know if he offers the NSR or high-lift versions any more, but you can email...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Accomplished 2 out of the 3 tasks yesterday. 1. Replaced the passenger running board with a less smashed part. 2. Reverted the Speed Engineering cold intake kit back to OEM. It dramatically lowered the exhaust drone between 1900-2300 rpms going back to the plastic intake with all its...

    Not starting.

Check the grounds on the front of the passenger cylinder head, back of the driver cylinder head (you said you checked), and down on the bottom of the block on the driver's side below/behind the power steering pump. A loose connection on the front of the passenger cylinder head will prevent...

What cam did you go with, why, and do you like it?

I bought the Low Buck Truck cam from Richard Holdener, which is basically a clone of the BTR Truck Norris cam. It's pretty much the opposite of what Geotrash likes, but I'm a goof, and think the lope/chop/whatever is fun, but I work from home and don't drive a ton. It certainly pulls strong the...

    Rear end gone???

Did you set the parking brake, chalk the wheels?

Slight miss at idle, poor MPG, sooty exhaust pipe, No codes. 250K

Replacing my two up steam O2 sensors made a huge difference after my engine swap, and got rid of several DTCs that had popped up related to fueling, which made no sense, but worked. Improved overall driveability as well. I got the OEM upstream O2s from Rock Auto.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Hemmed and hawwed for a week, but ended up ordering two front 5100s, when I should have just done it a while ago. IIRC, when I installed the RC leveling kit a while ago one of the front struts wouldn't come out. Even with the three top bolts undone it acted like it was glued into the frame...

Sounds and feels like driving over rumble strips

It doesn't look like ATF, though. Wrong color and basically no way for it to drip on the driver's side of the front diff. Check the power steering pump and lines?

Sounds and feels like driving over rumble strips

The cooler lines running between the cursed driver's side engine mount and the block are for the oil cooler. The cooler lines for the transmission run down the passenger side of the block... also fun to deal with (at least for a 4x4). Not sure what exactly the leak is from, but I'm curious how...

Oil pressure drop 2007 Tahoe 5.3

Yeah, the machinist that looked over my project engine said that the only bearings he's seen actually wear out in an LS are the cam bearings; the mains and con-rods all seemed to last forever as long as no serious trash passed through the oil system. (like mine, luckily) The other thing to...

Oil pressure drop 2007 Tahoe 5.3

I think any 5W-30 Dexos 1 and up oil would be fine. As far as filters go, probably any new name brand filter would be fine to test the pressure issue. I'd still look at the VLOM gasket as another place it could leak. RockAuto...

Lug nut size for fitting under center caps?

Good looking out. I see you can buy replacements on Rock Auto (and other places too, I assume), so I'll keep an eye on them. I wonder if a dab of RTV, or something pliable like that, on the plastic threads would help it grip. I don't plan on pulling them on/off a lot in the winter. I try to...

Lug nut size for fitting under center caps?

Thank you! I would never have thought to look at externally threaded lugnuts.
