    normally not just dead like a switch went off. misfires and crap but just dead while driving, not normal. id start simple, battery, grounds, alt cable battery cables. a failed ground could kill the whole truck real easy.

    BCM has nothing to do with the engine at all. its the body control module, its the brain for the inside of the cab. PCM is what controls the engine and tranny. power control module.

    ive used the tool, its like large pliers but at the end is two pegs sticking out you put in the two bolt holes iirc. then they have a huge wrench, push and pull and pop she goes.

    i had a 03 gmc pick up that the belt never chirped, but it broke the belt 2 times, then broke the tensioner, so next step was the compressor. after that it was like new again.

    normal operating temp is 210, so the t stat should not be the issue. try the right fuel filter who knows it might be restricting the fuel and running lean and causing the misfires.

    you got that tech2 dont ya? you can manually work the functions of the solenoids to test em out all pro like. all depends on the code what sensor your testing.

    damn those are miles. id be doing the heads, the oil pump timing chain. pan gasket rear and front crank seals before even thinking about putting it back to work. might even do a mild cam and lifters with new springs on the reconed heads. you know its ugly inside that engine lol

    got a cel for a bad content sensor and not willing to fix a known bad item. like it dont have a thing to do with the long cranking or no start. rule one of auto repair, fix all known issues first...... so good luck buddy. problem sits between the steering wheel and seat im sure of it now.

    https://cartreatments.com/p0178/ likely need a new flex fuel sensor. if the engine cant tell what fuel, or the e85 content, long crank/ start can happen. if your running e85 right now, for sure, as its got no idea what fuel is being used.

    you can buy whats called nicopp line. its very soft, easy to bend/shape it to your needs. comes with the ends flared and the line nut.
