AC Works great sometimes and then it doesn't

My guess is your temperature blend door actuator is going bad. On occasion my truck will start blowing hot air no matter what temperature I dial in. If I shut it off and restart it, it starts blowing cold again. I'm assuming my actuator fails and flops to the hot side, but the restart...

    AC Schrader Valves

My truck (info in sig) had a check ball in the high side and a Schrader in the low side. When I replaced my AC compressor and drier in March, I replaced the high side service port with Dorman 800-955 since it uses a Schrader valve. Based on my reading online (and my personal experience), the...

    2003 Suburban Z71 redo

Is the trans acting up? If not, continue with pan drop, change filter, and refill pan every 50k miles (in my opinion). My truck (which I'm the original owner) has 253k on the original transmission.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I usually "rent" them from AutoZone or O'Reilly Auto Parts (rent = buy, then return for full refund when I'm done).

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I tried my hand at fine tuning the A/C charge now that temps have approached 90 degrees here in Texas. I can't seem to figure out the best way to gauge how much refrigerant I should add (I know, I should be measuring by weight but we're long past that unless I want to evacuate, vaccum, and...

Took my oldest son to a Rangers baseball game today, and on the way had to stop by the plant in Arlington and get a pic of where my truck was built.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

If I’m being completely honest, I replaced my factory U joints in October 2020 and at the time I remember one of the caps not going on smoothly. I probably caused this myself by not taking the time to make sure it was 100% correct at the time. Oh well, to err is human, I suppose.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Well, she had to be towed for the first time in her life today. I lost a drive shaft u joint cap at 75mph. I heard a “BAM” followed by a ton of shaking. Thankfully a new u joint fixed her right up and no lasting damage from the vibration is apparent after an 80mph test drive.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Today I sucked out the old power steering fluid from the reservoir, refilled it with new fluid, jacked it up, and did a series of lock to lock turns and brake pedal pumps to try to get as much of the old stuff out as possible. Over the next few weeks I'll be tackling the brake fluid and...

I wonder if you have charcoal pellets clogging your EVAP lines, causing the pressure to build rather than vent to the purge solenoid/vent canister when it's activated?

    Need AC expertise HELP!

The source of the leak could be the high side service port since the OEM design uses a ball rather than a shrader valve, and over time the ball can deform and not re-seal/seal properly. Do you notice any green liquid (refrigerant) pooling around the inside of the high pressure service port? If...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I ordered a new accumulator/drier, orings, orifice tube, and compressor. My A/C compressor still works, but is a bit louder than it used to be and I've noticed the cooling doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be during the height of summer. Hoping some fresh parts and a recharge will get...

Broken head rest 2nd row buckets

Hey everyone, A few months back I was climbing around in my truck and accidentally put too much weight/pressure on the folding headrest, causing it to snap/pop. The headrest is now pretty loose. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before, and potentially help me understand how I...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

What I did was outside the brake fluid system so I didn’t need to bleed the brakes, but what you’re describing, in my opinion, would require a brake bleed. I try to do a brake fluid flush once every two years, and a Motive bleeder makes it pretty easy for me.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Friday evening I replaced my power brake booster. If it hadn't been for having to lay underneath the dash and remove/install 4 of the hardest to reach nuts I've ever seen, it would've been a 30 minute project. Instead, it took 2 hours. Still glad I did it myself since I paid $341 for the part...

I just called the dealer and they gave me part number 19371355 which seems to align with 178-1030, but hoping someone “in the know” can confirm for me.
