Upon more research I think I'm going to go with an Autel unit
Autel MaxiCheck Maxicom OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner MX808

Under $500 and the annual license/updates are around $130
Thanks for the info gents.
Looks like I have to pony up for a real diagnostic tool then. OTC Encore is looking to be the most cost effective tool for what I need at the moment.

Online is about $2500, but I have found some on eBay for under $1000...
Alright gents!
Can yall give the the ground truth on what functions you can successfully do with these Tech 2's on your GMT900?
I have used a dealer issued one only for ABS wheel speed monitoring/diagnostics.
Wonderful, saved me from having to type all of that!
ONLY consideration............... MAKE sure you or the other drivers DO NOT put DEF into the diesel tank.
There is a lot of this happening right now and depending on the severity its either engine replacement or a very expensive repair bill...
Yeah you have to stick with 58x unless you want a lot of pain.
Beyond the crank, you have different sensor placement and types; then the wiring harness in itself.
My cam specs rated it from 1600-6400 rpm. So there is no real need to go beyond that.
Currently the tune is still in a safe mode aka only rev's up to 6000rpm. Now that my injectors are good and the valve springs are done, I can use that remaining amount of range. It pulls hard from 4500 up to...
That 3rd option for $2900 is a damn good deal.
I wouldn't take a Jasper engine if given to me........seen more failures of their stuff then I care to think about. Yeah 30 years ago when it was simple small blocks and transmissions they were great. I have seen customers go through 3 of their...
Alright gents...........talked with my tuner yesterday and were on for next Thursday. Need to address the WOT tables, make some more adjustments for the converter and tune on E85.......perfect time with gas prices going up
The quest to build a fun daily has been an interesting project with set...
Welding cast can work, but reliability depends on the application and the load that will be applied.
Only thing I have had success with was exhaust manifolds, even then it was a 50/50 shot.
With a stage 2 you should be alright.
I will tell you, with the Stage 3 you definitely a 3-3200 stage. I did my cam first, drove it.....and was like fuck, need a stall now LOL. Had nasty cam surge at stop signs and lights.
Yes, in factory form aka OEM rear LCAs there is no adjustment for caster.
If you get the Spohn adjustable control arms, you can adjust the rear caster.
Yeah more then likely you need the BCM to be reflashed.
I know some dealers can be a PITA when getting stuff like this done.
I still need to confirm, aka talk to a Tech, but getting a LTZ BCM and have only the VIN flashed and hope that will communicate with my PCM.
Sweet, i love build threads :drink_nl:
A 3k stall with a TSP Stage 3 5.3 cam would be nice. TSP has 2 versions, a low lift and high lift......I went high. With the low life you would only need some LS6 beehive springs.
Yeah if they just mount to the pinch weld/seam.....in the even you rub or smash a rock on the trail, you'll do more damage then good.
Mounting of rock rails needs to be considered, IMO, wait and buy the correct set for you desired needs.
