I was definitely cutting it close, lol
Can't decide of I should leave it like this, or try to line it up with the garage better. I got the shed gleaned out so I can move these webers and other junk out of my way. Wish my garage was big enough to just pull it in.
She's been blown up for a while now, I have the new engine pretty much ready, but she was pointed the opposite way from when I pulled in knocking. Tried to round up friends to help spin it around, but getting them available at the same time wasn't happening so I did it alone, lol.
Sent my wife to rent the tool to remove the clutch fan, the parts store guy sent something that I definitely couldn't get to work, so I just put a pipe wrench on the water pump pully. I should have tried before I took off the alternator, but hind sight is 20/20 I guess.
@iamdumy chest is sore...
My dad bought it with like 280k on it for 5k probably 10 years ago. It was a super nice truck until he let some lady's kids he was dating drive it to a party. My dad makes some horrible decisions especially if ****** is involved, lol. I want to make a rat rod out of the leftovers. But I...
My dad's buddy never welded the new top of the cab on for him, so he ended up just letting me have it. It has e-fans, hopefully they still work. And either the engine is locked up or the starter went out while it sat. Plenty of decent parts though, I might even cut the rocker off and patch some...
@Rocket Man didnt you replace all the wire loom on one of your trucks? Is there a kit that has enough to do everything? Or can you point me in the right direction on how much of each size I would need? Budget is out the window, so I might as well make it look like I tried under the hood, lol
Bought my genuine gm one off of Amazon, also chinesium. I either got scammed or they are made in China, lol.
I'm less worried now that I pulled my intake yesterday, it really wasn't bad. I'm sure most shops want a weeks wages to do it...
I'm thinking about pulling the radiator and core support to swap these engines. I just don't know if that will be more of a pita than just working around them.
I checked 4 different cylinders, and besides the times I forgot to put them back on the base circle, I kept coming up with 7.300. Now you have me wishing I would have checked them all. Tedious is an understatement, lol
Was gonna leave these pieces that I missed unpainted, but I gobbed some primer on. Now I'm waiting for paint to dry, lol
Oh, and I got the BTR 11/32nds 7.375 pushrods in, if my measurements are correct it should have me at .075 preload on the lifters. Hopefully I have a nice quiet valvetrain...
Ordered BTR 11/32nds 7.375 pushrods and have the rockers torqued down now. Gonna toss one more coat of paint on these valve covers and then it will be time to start pulling the old engine.
Got the shed cleaned out this week, so I can move some of these webers out of my way. Need to get the...
I think the gmt 900 5.3s have dod. At least the one in my buddy's yukon has the dod valley cover. But the guy he bought it from said that it was a hybrid, and that they "Ls swapped it" lol. So I'm not positive
I'm probably gonna mix up some paint with hardener today and put another coat on. My pushrods are supposed to be here Wednesday-Friday. I think I'm pretty much done besides that. I did forget to order a crank sensor, and I'm so tired of buying parts I'm contemplating using the old one, lol
I read something about that, and then decided to just smear on what I had. Realized afterwards I forgot to add hardener to the red, so I'm not real confident in this paint job, lol
