Oh man, that makes me really wish I would have bought one without rust, lol.
So I checked my crankshaft thrust clearance today, and spinning the crank would make the dial move a couple thousandths, and I got readings between .0015 and .004 depending on where the crank was. I'm guessing that is...
I had my buddy help me set my toe. We just found a section of tread on the tire that we could get measurements off of. I can't remember how much a half turn was moving the measurements, either a half or a quarter inch I think. Drove better on the way to the alignment shop than it did after I...
I really have just been not wanting to pull this crank and cam back out to get this piece of lint that I told myself would be alright. But I can't get myself to move forward either, lol
I am never gonna get them to a mirror finish. And nobody is ever gonna see it except me when I change my oil, lol
I don't know how I even talked myself into it, I got some tools for the Dremel and thought I was gonna knock it out quick, lol.
They do look way better.
My wife started adding up receipts... let's just say new bolts are definitely out of the budget now, lol. Except for exhaust bolts, what do I have to get so they aren't breaking off in the head like the stock ones?
Brand new bearings had some weird nicks/scuffs on them. 2 different sets...
I ended up scraping the second one with a razor and hitting it with a little 2500 grit. The scuffs had to have happened before they packaged them, cause they were in spots that didn't touch other bearings in the...
Took some 2400 grit to one of the number 4 bearings I had tried already. It's spinning really smooth now. I was kinda worried about re-using one, but they seem like they go back in the same the second time. I guess it's crank polishing time now.
I shoulda bought 3 sets of these cam bearings I guess. #1 was not cooperating, had to move the engine to the workbench and come in from the other side. #4 is still a little tight I think. Probably gonna mess with it some more, hope I don't have to buy another set of bearings...
One cylinder does have this discoloration from water sitting in it or something. I can't feel it with my fingernail, so I guess I'm gonna call it good, didn't want to get crazy with the home.
The first picture is without the flash, the second the flash makes it less noticeable.
The rest of them...
Did a little honing last night, they turned out pretty good to my eyes at least, lol.
I went ahead and just did 1 stroke on the lifters, and a d*ngleberry came off the home and was sitting by one of the lifter holes, I need to inspect the oil passages now.
I think I do want to relocate them, and that ITC Billet stuff is made just a couple hours from here... Lol
I went ahead and put a half-assed polish on this one just in case. Mainly because I'm afraid to hone these cylinders, I need to watch a few videos
