Scorpion 1.6 Roller Rockers Installed !

Well I got the rockers in.....pain in the azz. The bad part of install is the entire ac compressor and power steering bracket as well as the alternator have to be loosened and moved a bit in order to get the cover over the now taller rockers. Also no instructions of any kind, like I needed...

    Quick question Brake fluid ??

Dot 5 is silicone based and is what you see in harleys. Dot 3,4,5.1 is for normal car stuff. I used 4 or 5.1 (when I could find it) on my race bike since the temps are much greater when racing.

    Quick question Brake fluid ??

So is DOT 5.1 DOT 5 is silicone based and does not absorb water, the others are hydroscopic. I always use dot 4. Try this read..... http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/brakefluids.html

    Running hotter than normal

Then of course you get down to the nasty.....blown head gasket or cracked head or block in which the combustion gasses pressurize the cooling system beyond what the cap can hold and all the coolant is forced out.:emotions122:

Tahoe runs out of steam at 73 mph...

Yeah the 96 and up had better PCM, vortec engine, better abs pump/module, better ac, better dash, better transfer case, variable power steering, better stereo system and speakers, etc. I had a 93 and I love my 99 waaaay more. BTW, maybe your muffler / cat is blocked or clogged.

1998 tahoe misfire / no power high rpm's at full throttle

O2s are not used by the PCM at full throttle. Therefore if it runs good at part throttle the O2s are probably good. Mods will however affect full throttle without a tune, as will low fuel pressure, etc. If you do have a leak at the collector, you should fix it first for sure since the PCM will...

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Just had a custom full exhaust installed. 2 1/4" from manifolds Y'd to 3" cat to 3" flow master 50 series and 3" all the way out. Extra O2 bung for tuning. Finally sounds like a respectable truck! Runs good too.

Isn't the throttle response just sick? Almost have to relearn how to drive it without breaking your neck.

    Dumb question on mpg

At 65 mph highway steady flat road I get 20.2 mpg with the AC on high with my current mods. Now I just need exhaust and roller rockers to finish it.

How to replace your front disc brakes

After pulling the caliper off, compress the piston with a c clamp. I wouldn't do it like that pic compressing everything bending the tabs on the old pads. If you open th bleeder first, you will not push crap back into the master and you can do it with your hand. The bolts are Allen head not...

    Dumb question on mpg

421 divided by 28 = 15.03 mpg Sounds about right for that speed.

    Weird A/C problem

You need to put a set of gauges on it to properly diagnose. Could be over/under charged, bad compressor, bad cycle switch, etc.

Engine setting for years, what's the best way to prepare for start up?

And the reason to take out the spark plugs is so there is no compression putting pressure on the rod bearings while cranking and getting her oiled up. The reason I mentioned not putting seafoam till later is because it will liquefy the carbon deposits, and it works better on a hot engine.

    98 tahoe driving me crazy.

9-10 volts is barely enough for the truck to run! You need to check the alt and battery or possibly ignition switch.

Engine setting for years, what's the best way to prepare for start up?

I wouldn't do the seafoam until after you have started the engine and you verify that it is operating normally. This is because after you do the seafoam it will smoke and cough and run rough till it clears out, and it's better to know its running fine before you do it.

    Bad torque converter?

Time to google 4l60e and see if any of those gears are related as far as bad solenoid, or share a clutch pack. Could be the valve body or shift solenoid, but doubtful that the converter itself will have an affect unless it is coming apart and producing metal shavings. Looks as though people...
