I have reviewed a few of the threads on Deleting and have decided to delete DOD but retain VVT (assuming I have VVT). I'll be pulling the oil pan and will replace the "o" ring at a minimum. I will be replacing the oil pump and wonder if I should go with a high volume due to the mileage/age...
I plan to keep this Yukon for a while, so thinking it might be best to really be thorough since I am tearing into things. I've watched some videos on doing the delete and my biggest concern would be the cam and getting timing right. One vid shows doing it without dropping the oil pan. Is the...
Thanks Foggy - I bought the truck with maybe 85k miles. I do not know if the AFM was previously turned off (and assuming I have AFM). How do I find that out? I've read that there might be more to turning AFM off, like non-AFM camshaft etc. Is that an issue with this engine? I am not...
I have the lovely broken rear exhaust manifold bolts to fix. I have the brackets that I could do a temp fix with, but thinking that I want to do it the right way and remove the heads to get the broken ones out. Partly due to seeing oil around the valve covers and I am not sure where it is...
Followup - I did go with a GM reman. As it goes, I had yet another issue recently with it, just before the 3year warranty was up. I had only put on about 50k when it started slipping and making noise. Found out after they dropped it, that the pump failed leading to catastrophic failure...
I just had my dealer complete an ECM adjustment following a Mass Airflow Sensor replacement. I was taking it in for a transmission replacement and coincidentally had a issue of it stalling after starting. They did the above and it seemed fine for a day or two. Unsure that is connected, but...
I attached the t-stat housing to the pump before I installed the pump, just to help line that o-ring up horizontally as to not let it slip out of place. I'll have to take it off to see what the issue is.
Got things back together and have a small leak out the side of the t-stat housing where it meets the pump. I have torqued to the right specs, so should I consider some gasket sealer?
Thank you for the info/suggestions. The bad looking gasket was the one more under the alternator. I could not tell if the leak was from the gasket or coming from under the hub. The bolts all came off about the same and no noticeable difference when comparing them. Surprised one gasket...
I have a Yukon Denali that started to run hot and found the water pump having a leak dripping down. After looking it over, I could not see an issue with hoses, so assume the pump is out. I have removed it and cannot find a weep hole visible. One of the gaskets appears rather bad and I am...
I have a 2011 Yukon XL and have a hose mid vehicle on the under carriage that I am not sure where it belongs. The attached end hooks up to a "T" and I cannot readily see where that leads to. Cannot find any place where it looks like this one attached to. Any thoughts appreciated!
Wondering if i can get any thoughts as to the best place to start on a Yukon that appears to have a transmission issue. Most recently, it just loss the ability to move after coming to a stop. It seemed to want to move slightly, but it was apparent that it was not going anywhere (RPM's go up...
I am a new purchaser of an 11 Denali and interested in how to use the USB port to play videos (only has 2nd row DVD, no rear). I have only located a few posts on this and they were not real specific as to options. One referenced that in the 11 model, this may not work. I have not taken...
Thanks. I think that is what I will try. I saw where you can buy assortments of them, but not sure yet locally what shop might have them on hand....I'll have to check around. I did not know how critical it is to have a certain one, but I guess you gotta have one that fits. :) Thanks for...
Much to my dismay, the squeal is in the pump. Any suggestions as to things to try to eliminate the squeal, or, am I on to my third pump? Anything I could be doing wrong to cuase a squeal??? Thanks.
Good call. Sounds like it is the AC afterall....I was going with my wife's comment that the noise was back.......different noise.....lovely. Thanks for the comment......
I have an 01 Yukon and recently replaced the power steering pump after a failure. The new pump worked fine, but after about 2 hours of use, the pump seemed to give off a loud squeal. Seemed to come directly from the pump, so replaced it thinking bad pump. The new one again worked fine for...
While backing a boat up today, I had my power steering completely go out. Fluid levels good. Read that some models have a sensor on the steering column that can affect some things. Wonding if to try there first or the pump. Or might there be something bigger?? Suggestions were to start? Thanks.
