After replacing my 200.00 Blower Motor Module, AC Delco P/N 15-8794 because of a 'surging' issue I just leave the Cover off and don't allow passengers up front.
A few years ago my Tahoe Transmission started to jam-up as I slowed down for a stop sign at about 10-15 mph. I thought the driveshaft was the problem. I was afraid to drive it thinking it would happen at highway speeds. I dropped the Trans Pan and found some small roller bearings and other small...
I replaced my O-Ring last fall. Pressure went from just under 40 to almost 60 cold. Normal Operating Temp at 70 mph (2000 rpm) is exactly 40 psi. My rust free Texas Yukon is a 2WD. I wanted to remove the oil pan to inspect the condition of the lower end of the motor and the inside of the oil...
I'm guessing the inside of the oil pan is a sludge pit. Just had my pan off last week and my Converter is dry as well but I have a rear main leak big time. When you remove that tray you will see a drip of oil on the bottom of the Rear Main Seal Plate and take a rag or paper towel and shove it...
Did you think to make sure your Flex Plate Bolts were tight? Mine were loose with no factory thread locker. Went to my local Chevrolet Service Department and talked with a tech who told me they have seen these bolts loosen up.
You have Oil Pressure if you didn't you would know it like Rockola mentioned. If you have ever done a oil change but did not fill your oil filter before you installed it you may have heard a lifter tick for just a few seconds then it goes away when the filter is full of oil and the engine has...
Replaced my Trans Filter about a month ago. Got lucky was able to get the pan off with the exhaust in place but did remove the heat shield. Never used a torque wrench just tightened till the bolts felt tight. Used the black gasket the filter came with also had a Felpro gasket on hand just in...
Got a bit more oil pressure after installing a new (red) Oil Pump Tube O-Ring. When your starter bolts have oil drops on them it is from a leaking Rear Plate seal gasket. When you have oil dripping off every bolt like mine it's both the Main and the Rear Plate seal.
Did the O-ring a few days ago only because I had the oil pan off to install a new oil pan gasket which was the original riveted gasket. Should of been done this fall when the weather was in the 60's but that would of made to much sense. The O-Ring was green and flat exactly like Chads. I also...
I now use Quaker State 10w-40 in the summer months. Menards has 5qt jugs for less than 20 bucks. I noticed a higher oil pressure at idle using 10w-40. 40 psi cold about 35 hot. I use 5w-30 in the winter but it leaks more from my rear main and that's not getting replaced anytime soon. I never...
I had the exact same thing happen to me coasting up to a stop sign. At about ten mph slowing to a stop my truck started to act like the TC was jamming up. I was able to limp it home about ten miles. It would be fine till I slowed down to almost a stop then it would jam and sound really harsh...
RWD is great to work on not so great when you have to drive in freezing rain. I will take some pics under the truck this weekend when I do the oil pump O-ring.
I just ordered a Block-off plate on ebay. Billet Aluminum with a thick oval rubber sealing ring. No more sealer and gaskets. Installed last night took all of 10 min. Great design.
Mine was a really dark green probably 10-12 years since system was last bled. Took over a quart to flush the old fluid out. When its green its way over due for a fluid change.
I spent hours last night searching for the perfect spot to get through the firewall. I have decided it will be on the passenger side where the extra battery mount is. pics coming soon.
I am just starting my aftermarket audio build and spent over an hour trying to find a way to run some power wires into the engine compartment. Watched a few vids of these guys poking a hole in the top of that main rubber wire grommet and no way would I ever do that or try to push wires through...
