I had a 95 Tahoe that started slipping in Reverse as well. Just like you said anything more than idle it would slip. Drove that truck for five years that way and it never got any worse. Be easy on it and you should be able to get many years out of it. All my forward gears shifted nice and hard...
That's about a 100 feet. The 2nd gear shift is what throws it sideways kinda like those vids of guys leaving a car show everything is fine until the 2nd gear shift then they lose it. Better to get ''out of it'' than end up going through that fence I see in the weeds.
I purchsed a new Thermo Clutch last fall. It is a severe duty clutch that I don't even need because I never tow anything. It does exactly what you explained yours does. At 2000 RPM it will slow down after about 20-30 seconds.
I have seen those "half priced" ones on ebay. Was always skeptical of ordering plugs on line and have never done it. Get them from a auto store so you know what your getting is the real deal.
He already ordered it. It will last plenty long enough. My Detroit Axle Bearing has made it almost a year with no problems and that was a 40.00 Bearing.
Its called a headlight switch. make sure you get the correct one for the year of your truck. A lot of interior electrical changed in 2003. Most auto stores should have them or get a used one out of a junk yard or ebay.
I order a lot of parts but with Napa and O'Reilly less than five miles away I still go to the Auto Store. I get most my P/N's off of ebay. It's also nice to have a GM Dealer close as well. Always fun to look at the new trucks while your getting your parts.
