    Carjack Attempt??

Doesn't seem like a carjack attempt at all. Seems like they're casing a theft, as the others have said. It's not that there are nicer cars elsewhere. It's that yours is easy to steal using the methods mentioned and has plenty of value. Don't keep any valuables, firearms, important/sensitive...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I didn't know they had a flat rate on the repairs. Mine quit after about ~12 years and I've been flying blind since.

SOLVED - New engine with DOD delete and Cam Motion cam - valvetrain noise normal?

Definitely see if the builder documented specifically what they did. If even just a cleaning pass to true the deck and heads, it's still something to account for. You can get a push rod checker tool for about $25. It's tedious work, but knowing is worth it. Having said that, I checked every...

Aluminum / XFE NNBS Front Suspension Rebuild

That's a knuckle. The hub bolts to that knuckle. Those blems below the three bolt holes are 100% harmless. Nothing mates to that surface. I'd file down the dings on the mating surface where the hub goes, though. In this pic, the one at the top right halfway between the bolt holes and the...

SOLVED - New engine with DOD delete and Cam Motion cam - valvetrain noise normal?

LSs are known to have the sewing machine sound, but it's usually just on larger and/or aggressive cam profiles. I wouldn't consider yours large or aggressive. Possibly. A short cycle oil change after a rebuild is necessary to get the break-in metals out. So, the deck AND the heads had...

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

The clearance ("air gap") of a Hall effect sensor is a precision specification. Do you recall the crankshaft sensor shims for the Vortec 350 and 4.3? On higher mileage engines, the wear in the crank bearings allowed the crank to move ever so slightly, mostly at high RPM, and the reluctor on...

You know they just threw in some 7.4s and sent it.

    Stolen SUVs and Trucks

I think I have abnormally small ear holes. I haven't found a set of ear buds that will stay in place, especially once my ears sweat when working out in the yard. I've tried aftermarket memory foam ear cushions and all that jazz. When I use those foam ear plugs, I have to roll 'em down really...

Growing up doesn't have to suck

Thanks, Tom! I'm glad to hear it's still doing what the Gen3 LS should be doing. :D

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Agreed. The side panels were added cuz he had it in his Envoy but needed the additional 1.5" of width to fit snug in the Tahoe. I could pull those off and cut out some that are longer then flip it. I doubt he'd care if I modded it. It was just a quick throw-in to have something. I really...

    Stolen SUVs and Trucks

My headphones. lol I found this out recently by accident. It's the ones I wear when mowing. I went from the very back of my yard to the front edge of my side yard and the music started skipping. I realized my phone wasn't in the cupholder. I found it at the very back, close to 150' away...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I posted this elsewhere but meant to post here and in my thread: The Kicker amp I bought in Florida is WAY too much power for that Alpine 10". Like, more than three times the RMS. Tahoe Twin gave me his old sealed dual 12 box he had in his Tahoe so I can finally use those two new Kicker 12s I...

Ran out of gas! 2008 LTZ

It's not exaggerating if referring to a modded boosted car. The Ecoboost 4-banger Muffstain, in factory form and on 93 octane, gains something like 35 HP over what it does on 87. Modded and tuned on E85 could easily scale these figures up for 20%+ gains.

Ran out of gas! 2008 LTZ

I wouldn't say 20% boost in performance, not in this platform. With a boosted and tuned car, quite possibly. Still, in our rigs, it's something. I can never remember the specs that GM outlines, but I think it's something like +6HP and +13TQ. E85 compared to regular/87 is a loss due to the...

Want to take my 2010 Yukon XL Denali with 180,000 miles for a family trip from Michigan To Florida - Can you help me make this a success!

I'm in West Baton Rouge, about 2 hours from there. Up until the end of last year, I spent the majority of my work week in NO and surrounding areas. Since our dispatch is now handled with a pseudo-AI program and the part that isn't AI is managed by mindless mediators, I've been kept out of NO...

Aluminum / XFE NNBS Front Suspension Rebuild

I'm usually one to modify or make my own tooling for a one-time-use endeavor. But I don't wanna risk messing up my knuckles. Not for something like this. I'll see what I can get my machine shop to do this for to determine if it's even worth it. Thanks for the excellent info!

My '02 Tahoe L59 revs WAY too high on cold start ups. Anyone got any ideas?

If you're removing the TB to clean it, you can use pretty much anything. There are no exposed "soft parts" other than the gasket. But, God invented a specific TB cleaner for a reason, so I'd have to recommend that. My hackjob ass would use one of the ~15 cans of brake cleaner I have in stock...

Let's sift through every square inch of a 2013 Tahoe PPV

How fresh is the fluid in it? The Eaton Gov-Lock's operation is sensitive to the condition of the fluid. Mine would have problems unlocking but has been working perfectly since I replaced the fluid, including a thorough flushing of the differential bits to get all the old fluid out.

Aluminum / XFE NNBS Front Suspension Rebuild

Do you know or know where I could find the taper specs of the ball joint stud in the aluminum upper control arm and in the steel knuckle? I have some nearly-new aluminum arms from a '21 Sierra I'd like to swap to my '08. It's not worth it to me to get aluminum knuckles, especially since I'd...
