2013 GMC Yukon XL 5.3 - AFM Issues Early Indicator?

A 2013 is gonna have the latest and greatest versions of the AFM components available for this platform. 110K miles is considerably low for AFM issues, or any serious issues, for that matter. That's not to say that an AFM failure (present or impending) isn't a possibility. It could be...

How cold is it where you are today?

Oh, I have an open mind, alright. I still have the right to control what goes in it. Thoughts of @B-train's banana hammock isn't invited. Very thankful for this.

    2007 5.3 year compatibility

Preach. My work van that I drive 5-7 days a week is a Ford Transit 150. The 3.7 NA V-6 and 10-speed is surprisingly peppy if driven just right. Still, you have to calculate your moves well in advance when merging, shooting a gap, etc. After driving that van 1300+ miles a week, I'm fairly...

    Throttle Body Upgrade ?

If you can get an OEM/GM Genuine LS3 TB for the same price as a factory replacement LMG TB, then maybe you can try it. Personally, I wouldn't bother. If you want the same effect as a larger TB, just push the pedal further. That's how these larger TBs feel like they've added power- a 90mm...

Ceramic pieces 0f plug in cylwnder

I'm finding the story hard to believe. They had the intake manifold off, which means there were exposed cylinders. It started making a noise at the first start following that work? My suspicions are that they dropped or knocked something into the cylinder. The ceramic wouldn't just break...

    2007 5.3 year compatibility

I gotcha. I read "...and whether or not the ecm & tcm are reprogrammed properly..." as the ECM being tuned to protect the trans (like retarded timing/extra Torque Management) and the TCM (actually all the same in this generation) adjusted to have higher line pressure.

    2/3 drop while retaining autoride?

Autoride isn't much of a problem, it's the Auto Level Control that can go bonkers when you lower. But, simply put, if it doesn't know the axle isn't in the original position, then it won't try to change anything. Before you do anything, accurately mark the positions of all four sensors...

    89Suburban/PAW PAW's 07 Tahoe Redneck Mod Thread

I realized I was too late cuz I didn't log in yesterday. But, if those isolators you were asking about are really that thick (to add 1/2"), you can remove them. Just slip some heater hose over the first coil of the spring cuz you don't want metal-on-metal. I've never known the isolators to be...

That's impressive and, in multiple aspects, fascinating. It's just a bit for me to wrap my head around.

Need a door for 2007 Tahoe LT

Assuming you're asking about the body style of the Tahoe in your avatar and that you posted this in the correct section (2007 - 2014) and didn't mean to ask in the 2000 - 2006 section, then, no. Early 2007 and older are very different.

    2007 5.3 year compatibility

Sure. But why swap in 50 (at least) more HP/TQ just to throttle and/or tune it down to worn 5.3 power levels? I was basing my comment on GM's advertised ratings for the 4L60E, which, in this case would only apply if his had been rebuilt to proper OEM specs. Cranking up the line pressure is...

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

I know they all have different prices. But, the quick and basic math at an even $1,000,000 puts those at $37,000 each. I certainly appreciate handcrafted items but what makes them so valuable? Exotic and/or ultra rare materials? Metallurgy with an edge that's nearly impossible to dull...

    2007 5.3 year compatibility

A lot has been said already and your questions here have been answered. But, unless there is major internal damage, your LMG can be reused. At 352K miles, I would absolutely do a full rebuild, upgrading where desired (including deleting AFM). I wouldn't just replace the cam or timing chain or...

My '02 Tahoe L59 revs WAY too high on cold start ups. Anyone got any ideas?

'02 has a cable, IAC and separate TPS. The PCM uses the IAC to control the throttle. On DBW, the PCM just opens the throttle blade to control idle.

My '02 Tahoe L59 revs WAY too high on cold start ups. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm always for proper diagnostics. But, if you're good with doing so, I wouldn't see it as being a total waste. Surely, being 22 years old and a lot more electromechanical than the newer ones, it would have some wear. You can reset the PCM to where it has to relearn idle. The proper way is...

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

I R/R'ed the engine in my brother's '05 Sierra 4WD before I had my lift functioning. I R/R'ed the one in my Tahoe with the lift. There's really not much to gain with a lift in this particular job. More convenience is about the only real gain, especially if you're really lowered. But you...
