The DOD tick finally got to me

The options are almost too many to count. Your first decision is to pick a course of action AND STICK TO IT. Switching up halfway through it often costs a lot more in money, but always in more time. At 200,000 miles, I set out to delete mine with a stock non-AFM cam. I had all the parts and...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I love my government subsidized race gas. No cats, no problems, though. :p

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I don't eat bread/crust, but I'd have a slice or two of the best such a place has to offer. I have a weakness for long-standing local joints. I look up what the local old timers rave about and/or places Guy Fieri visited. I've been to the original Taco Bus a few times on previous Tampa trips.

My '02 Tahoe L59 revs WAY too high on cold start ups. Anyone got any ideas?

I agree with the above replies and would add removing the IAC valve and cleaning the pintle and the seat in the side of the TB where it seals to. But, first, check the commanded versus actual throttle angle (should be expressed as %).

    Probably because it's a Gen3 5.3 with 189K and not a Gen2 ("Vortec") 5.7 with 189K.

Ran out of gas! 2008 LTZ

Word. I've been running E85 exclusively for a few months now. Pretty much ever since I switched to the physical alcohol sensor. It stays so cheap here. Was $1.95 at one station a few weeks ago but it's been hovering around the $2.05-$2.45ish range lately. Here, as long as it's at least 27%...

    2011 LTZ Leveling

Have a tape measure? These things all sit differently and can change between drives. Measure how yours sits and order what you need to put it where you want it. I'd advise against just going off numbers, though. A slight rake is more ideal than level and level might look slightly squatted...

    Motor flush

If you've been running good quality synthetic, you shouldn't need anything. They're too easy to use improperly and can do more harm than good. Diluting and thinning out the oil doesn't set right with me. Adding a harsh chemical to abruptly break away chunks of sludge can cause problems worse...

    5.3 rebuild guestions

158K is NOTHING on these engines. It shouldn't need a rebuild. There are a handful of well-documented causes for low pressure as well as false low pressure readings on the gauge. Unless you're just bored and wanna tear into it, I wouldn't take it apart. Properly diagnose the cause of the...

Ran out of gas! 2008 LTZ

I think it uses the level sensor in the tank as well as averaging the injector flow rate, vehicle speed, time, etc. I watch my vitals closely to proactively spot issues and can fairly accurately calculate the fuel's alcohol content based on MPG. So, I'm very familiar with the actions of my...

    Head gasket question/advice (05 Tahoe 4.8)

The Castech logo can't be seen unless you remove the rocker pedestal rail. Regardless, if the oil didn't have the telltale yellow/cream/milkshake stuff or black and sludgy (from the moisture being steamed out of it but other coolant chemicals remaining), then your coolant and oil aren't mixing...

low oil pressure in 08 denali 6.2

@Thomas Mccarthy, this is what I used when I deleted AFM. Comes with new O-rings installed and new gasket. 3.5 years ago, the whole assembly was about $40 (GM Genuine). I needed the actual cover for my purposes, but I wanna say I noticed the prices for the assembly versus just the gaskets and...

low oil pressure in 08 denali 6.2

Not the ones without AFM. The blocks are the same whether they have AFM or not. Those with AFM have a VLOM and those without AFM have a valley cover with integrated tower seals. The oil pressure sensor screws into the cover or VLOM. The screen under it is to protect the components in the VLOM.

low oil pressure in 08 denali 6.2

O-ring on dip stick tube has nothing to do with oil pressure, only leaking. Start with the easy/cheap diagnostics first. First would be to verify the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. If it is, in fact, low- test the O-ring on the pickup tube by overfilling the oil by 2 quarts and driving...

The Bose add an amp nightmare

This is pretty much what I'm aiming for with mine. I like my Bose system. There's a lot of R&D there that I have no reason to reinvent. I do want to replace the speakers and will use aftermarket of the same/similar impedance, or as reasonably close as possible. I wanna keep the Bose sub as...

    Blocking off rear heater

^^^This. You'll get new connectors and "delete" the rear heater in one shot. Use OEM connectors! Flush and blow out the rear heater pipes and core and cap off the lines in case you or a future owner wants to reimplement it.

Cold Air Intake (CAI) on 2013 6.2L - worth doing?

I gained 2 MPG when I lowered mine and removed the roof rack. I also reduced the rake, but kept a noticeable amount. The rake angle is a factor in their aerodynamic design. Level or worse, squatted, would increase drag. They have a little more rake than necessary to have more rear travel...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Oooooh. Great idea with insulating the wells and liners! I haven't done it to mine (yet?), but I've lined the bottom side of an 1/8" thick piece of masonite (was free from a past job) with 1/4" thick foam rubber (neoprene sponge foam?) to insulate as well as contour to the floor. Then covered...
