Want to take my 2010 Yukon XL Denali with 180,000 miles for a family trip from Michigan To Florida - Can you help me make this a success!

I plan to do both to achieve both functions. Covering the entire panel would muffle sound transmitted through the thin sheet metal while tiling would stop the resonance of the panel itself. Technically/scientifically, they're the same in physical aspects. But each has they're own purpose. I...

I'm a fan Infinity, especially their Kappa line. Really, I like most all of Harman's brands. I have no experience installing those speakers so I can't comment on that. What I can say is if you're gonna have the door panels off to do audio upgrades, I'd strongly recommend sound insulation and...

08 suburban LTZ 5.3 misfire at idle

I'd definitely swap the VLOM. Again, be sure you get the updated one. This may even improve your oil pressures. Although, they're fine as-is.

08 suburban LTZ 5.3 misfire at idle

All sounds good. I tore mine down to delete AFM right at 200K. The cylinders looked great and all the compression numbers were very good. The VLOM is the control center for the AFM and the first design had flaws which GM greatly improved on. They also improved the design of the AFM lifters...

2013 Escalade ESV Next BIG adventure: Cooling system refresh, Big 3 Electrical upgrade, Reseal intake, and VLOM mod...

I get it! I had to mention it since you were so close. You're right- you'd be minutes away from an AFM delete. Removing that crank pulley is the gateway to a potential snowball that basically goes: Front crank seal > Front cover gasket > Oil pump > Timing set and phaser > AFM delete If...

The phaser is the cam sprocket, so that's a third of the timing set. I'd replace the phaser and not worry about the timing set. But, for just five more bolts, you can remove the oil pump and replace everything. Supposedly, the LS2 style chain damper is the "better option". What we have is a...

Want to take my 2010 Yukon XL Denali with 180,000 miles for a family trip from Michigan To Florida - Can you help me make this a success!

I was about to tag James but he gave you his witness. My experience with my '08 was the speakers sounded great but a little weak. I replaced the HU with a Pioneer with plenty of sound shaping capabilities (13-band EQ). It's louder and more clear now. I've always done full sound systems in my...

08 suburban LTZ 5.3 misfire at idle

Sounds like a misfire from compression and not ignition or fueling. The valves might be moving when scoping it, but things can be different when its running, especially with lifters controlled by manipulated oil pressure. I'd suspect a lifter or the solenoid in the VLOM that controls that...

2013 Escalade ESV Next BIG adventure: Cooling system refresh, Big 3 Electrical upgrade, Reseal intake, and VLOM mod...

It's not keyed cuz it's really not a [harmonic] balancer. It's just a crank pulley. It does have rubber isolation between the outer ring that the belt rides on and the inner hub to dampen asynchronous vibrations. The crank pulley bolt is torque-to-yield (TTY) so it must be replaced. Yes-...

Seat cushion- OEM, Durafoam or eBay special?

Great point. This makes sense now that I've thought about it. Most of my trips aren't very long so I don't ever notice a problem. Only on the longer drives do I feel like the support is inadequate. It's gotta be a gradual compressing of the cushion. The Tahoe sits for days or a week or more...

    Good Deal Spotters' Thread

Not ebay or CL, but they're $154 cheaper than when I bought 'em a year ago: https://a.co/d/0TOYlX3 @pwtr02ss, these would spruce up your stack of Avalanche suspension parts.

    Welding broken fender

The pic of the welds is too blurry to really tell. But, it kinda looks and sounds like lack of penetratíon. Aren't the $100 HF welders flux core only? That doesn't look like flux core wire to me. It also looks big, like .035". Also, with flux core, the electrode should be negative...

Seat cushion- OEM, Durafoam or eBay special?

My work van, which I drive 60K+ a year, has firm seats and I have no problem with them. My office chair is made from the driver seat from an '09 Avenger that was wrecked in '10 and had really low mileage. It's somewhat firm and super comfy for me. Sure, the overall ergonomics of the bottom...

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

Sounded like you still had some pent-up aggravation: "You see where it comes up and does a hump in the top of it? You can't get the GOD DAMNED timing cover off unless you remove that and the oil pan, the upper oil pan has to come off for that."

This is normal right? Coolant temp drops slightly when heater is turned on. It is cold out.

The radiator is comprised of finned tubes that the coolant passes through. The heat from the coolant transfers to the tubes and fins. Air blowing through the radiator carries the heat away and into the environment. The heater core is comprised of finned tubes (well, a single tube bent in...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Every two years. I pay it online and they mail me a new registration with a sticker. I peel it off and stick it over the old one on the plate. Thankfully, these things are all separated functions here... Currently. The only problem I have with not being current in the system is my...

Seat cushion- OEM, Durafoam or eBay special?

Interesting. I can't bring myself to trust the ones that are half the price and the next step up are in the low $100s. So I may as well get what seems to be the best at $139. I see no reason to cheap out on something as critical as driving comfort that should last longer than I'll have this...

Seat cushion- OEM, Durafoam or eBay special?

Excellent! I have an ebony one in my cart. How's that Seat Shop (Durofoam?) cushion? Most reviews said it was too firm. But, I'd guess that'd be the popular impression since the original is being replaced because it's worn out/too soft.

HELP !!!!! With Dome Lights SOLVED ! I'm a little dumb. The dimmer dial was turned up all the way

I didn't mean the button specifically. I was thinking the assembly as a whole, like a fault in the PCB. You kinda ruled out the door switches (the ones built into the latches) so I was thinking something else in the chain specific to the lights. Kinda like how a defective multifunction switch...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

It seems to be all we have here. We don't get the seasonal blends of any fuels- it's the same year-round. I've never seen any true 85% ethanol fuel at any pumps. Ever since I've been monitoring it, it has always been mid-60s percentiles.
