I used to use an unlit propane torch tip around connections that could leak air. Make sure to take a good look at vacuum hoses for cracks or disconnected hoses.
Propane will cause a momentary jump in rpms even with a warm engine.
I was just looking back through this thread and didn't see the picture of the jumped wires. The wires are in the tailgate at the rear wiper.
The red wire is my jumper.
I used a bullet plate that provided a passage between the hole for the lines. I figure it mimics having a cooler. Mine had a silicone gasket attached to the plate. I don't think mine is leaking but I should probably take a fresh look at it.
I live on a lake with a steep grassy back yard. I use 4 low going up and down with a utility trailer when I wat to haul dirt or rock down and for dock maintenance. 4 high would work but tends to want to spin the tires when the tc hits. It also inspires more confidence dodging trees on the hill...
You'll have to contact Crutchfield for a lot of details. I bought it from them and installed it myself. I had to use my multi-tool to chop some plastic out deep in the radio compartment. Once that was done things fit well. I posted somewhere on this forum - under the GMT900 section - but don't...
I have an '09 LTZ that came with the Bose system. I was never impressed until I upgraded the head unit to a Pioneer AVIC 8400 something. I did that to gain direct bluetooth streaming but have fallen in love with Android Auto.
The new head unit with the Bose amp and stock old speakers sounds...
I dreamed of mounting some hard points to the tops of the A pillars to be able to connect a full length roof rack to. I and my tailgate have learned a hard lesson about the height of my garage door vs an open tailgate. Any rack needs to be no higher than the stock but able to be raised and...
I looked at my right front and everything looked fine. Hmm. Felt weird again when I pulled out. Next stop was the same thing pulling in. Hmm. I was able to pull through the parking spot leaving and it felt less weird.
Back on a highway it was fine but it occurred to me that I had used 4WD last...
You won't have exactly the situation I had but my '09 Tahoe has 3 cats. Two by the manifolds and one after the Y. Both of the upper cats had melted and collapsed down into the 3rd blocking it. With nowhere to go the exhaust pressurized the block pushing the oil into the intake.
My point being...
I see references throughout this thread about phone numbers and email addresses for Rockauto. I can't find either. I recently ordered a water pump, serpentine belt and A/C belt. The A/C belt is supposed to be a stretch belt. It was definitely not a stretch belt and broke when I tried to use it...
There are 3 cats. Two where the older ones are and a third after the Y. It makes sense that if it fits the 6 speed it would fit the four as after the Y the exhaust goes over the crossmember and out past all the same obstacles.
The two Y pipes are fairly different because the 6 speed is larger and the pipes have to clear it. I know because the Y pipe I bought turned out to be for the 4 speed and I couldn't make it work. By a stroke of luck I found a guy in Newport who could do it right away. Not only that but he's the...
Where in NC are you? I have the Y pipe off my '09 with now empty cats. I'm in East TN just off I40 in Baneberry. Mine fits the 6 speed transmission. I replaced it when the two upper cats collapsed. The guy who did the work cut it apart so he didn't have to drop the crossmember but it's complete.
I landed on this thread because I'm trying decide what to do to the 5.3 I took out thinking it had a failed AFM setup. When the 6.2 I swapped in had the same problems I happened to discover both upstream cats had collapsed and blocked the cat after the Y pipe. All that blockage left nowhere for...
I've been considering switching one of the outlets to switched power in my 2009 Tahoe. I think the smart way is to add a relay to switch the existing power feed. Then you just need something from the radio to trigger the relay.
Having gone through this on my 2009 tahoe I used a deep 1/2" drive socket to push one of those in. Got it all together and the new bearing failed in short order. I was going to go after it again but my wife was trying to sell Aflac to a shop and convinced me to use them. The root of my problems...
Wanting more I replaced the Nav radio in my 2009 LTZ Tahoe with a whiz-bang Pioneer unit.
The radio I removed works perfectly and is cosmetically perfect. I'm not sure how to go about removing the XM unit or I'd throw that in.
