When I swapped engines last I removed the front wheel and plastic wheel well liner. That made accessing the mount much easier than when I replaced the mount before. Gave enough better access to make the extra work worthwhile.
Yep. Also if, like me, you've set your flip to respond to the usual power button you don't have to hold both buttons. Of course when the single button failed I tried both to no avail. The phone was as hard locked as it could be.
Yep. I didn't try holding anything on my stereo but my first inclination was to power down my phone -- a new Z Flip 4 -- but no matter how long I held the power button it was locked.
I'm running Android Auto wirelessly into my new Pioneer stereo. It hung once so far and completely disabled control of my cell phone so that I couldn't shut it down or turn off wifi and/or Bluetooth. That only left shutting down the radio but it was similarly locked. I think the only way around...
For what it's worth my wife enjoys telling all the hunters around that she got a 6 point buck with her RFF. In your case that would be LFF.
My wife's Camry was totaled because the buck pushed her RFF into the front door, the front door into the back door, and the back door into the rear...
Moot point now. Threaded their GPS over and up the right side A pillar, across the front edge of the headliner and hung it next to my mirror. I was going there anyway for the mic.
It cost me about $1700 total. Pretty pricey for me but it gives me more features that I wanted without losing any. Still learning my way around this complex piece of equipment. Some features I want available while driving are locked out if the parking brake isn't set. Likely I'll work around...
Okay, got things going. Found a wire description for the six wires into the camera. Jumped thr pink switched full time pink to the dark blue reverse trigger and it works as long as the camera doesn't fry with full time triggering.
I did cut some plastic out of the radio housing to gain depth...
I know this is a very old thread but it helped me out so I thought I'd comment.
Installed a Pioneer AVIC-W8600NEX which has two camera inputs but works with the factory camera. In addition it has a camera view option to see that camera view (or the second one if I add it) by pushing a button...
Yikes. I hadn't considered that the camera could run on less than 12v.. I was thinking about using the power and switch for the rear wiper which I partially removed (with my garage door). I'll have to check.
This was a love/hate thing. My phone was paired with the Tahoe's OnStar for phone calls since I bought it. The truck pairs up before the new radio so when the radio activates the phone it goes to that. Simple fix was to unpair the truck. Love that it was an easy fix, hate that I made that stupid...
I talked to Crutchfield today. Reverse activates the backup camera with power somewhere. Using the view camera button doesn't apply power. The solution is to replace my camera with an aftermarket one. Not happy.
I routed the GPS antenna and microphone up the right A pillar to the rear view...
Yeah, I had Crutchfield make up the cables. It looks like part of it might have some diodes in it. My thinking is the radio sends a signal to activate the camera. The harness Crutchfield supplied is so ugly I'm tempted to redo it without putting pairs of wires into rca jacks then using a...
We'll see if they respond. I used their online support system to ask my question.
I'm waiting to see which GPS antenna I will be using so my dash is kinda scattered but I found another oddity.
My radio includes the ability to turn on the backup camera for checking on a trailer. Something I...
I'm in the middle of installing the Pioneer AVIC-W8600NEX in my Tahoe. The radio came with a GPS antenna but my Tahoe has navigation and thus has one in a perfect location with the wire running to the stock radio. The connector won't fit the Pioneer. Does anyone know if it's compatible?
I pulled the trigger today:

Looking. Trying to keep my steering wheel controls and would like to keep my backup camera, Bose Amp, add another camera. I have to back my boat at a right angle to my driveway with very little room to spare around the corner of my house. A "portable" bluetooth camera that works with the stereo...
Many phones allow you to control what is allowed on a Bluetooth connection. You can pair with the built-in (On-Star) for phone only AND connect to the radio for audio and data. I have that in my 2009 Tahoe. I bought a Bluetooth adapter from Crutchfield that connects at my XM adapter. That does...
Some parts of the year seem to cause mine to do that too. I pop that little knobs out and crank the brightness up for a while before turning it back down and pushing it back in. I've heard the sensor involved is on the rear view mirror. Dunno, just work around it and forget it.
Just a point to add. AWD vehicles have a differential in the system to allow the front wheels to turn at a different speed from the rears. 4wd vehicles don't have that. In turns the front takes a wider arc than the rears. Not sure how GM handles the difference in automatic 4wd mode except to...
I recently discovered drive ability improves with traction control turned off in my Tahoe. With it on it resists accelerating in curves even a little that won't cause wheelspin. Seems to help just driving on the interstate. Even with brand new Michelin tires inflated to the same pressure.
