Escalade roof rack side bars compatible with Z71 rack?

I'm keeping the Z71 rack...I'm just wondering if the Escalade side bars would fit or could be easily modified to fit the Z71 rack. Stainless side bars in place of black side bars. I love the Z71 rack...that roller in the back make it's super easy loading kayaks or lumber on the rack!

Escalade roof rack side bars compatible with Z71 rack?

I'm looking for a Sub LTZ roof rack with the stainless side bars...very hard to find. So that got me to wondering if the stainless Escalade side bars are the same as the LTZ ones? Looking at diagrams, there seems to be 'tabs' at both ends of the Escalade bars where it mounts to the roof. Are...

    04 suburban headers

You're gonna basically have to get new exhaust custom made if putting long tubes in. I had LT's on my previous 04 Yukon and ordered some generic cats from eBay. Then just let the exhaust shop work their magic. They reused as much of the factory exhaust pipe as possible. Depending on your...

Anyone find a way to engage A/C compressor when below 40 outside?

Yeah I don't know enough about the A/C system and definitely don't want to screw it up. This is the 2nd 04 Yukon I've had and they both perform the same. All other vehicles I've had and the 3 others we have now, none GM's, all have the ability to run the a/c with the defrost. In fact, the A/C...

Anyone find a way to engage A/C compressor when below 40 outside?

If there is one thing that bugs me about my Yukon it's this! Last night had 7 of us in the Yukon while it was snowing. Defrost was on high but all the windows were fogging up. Outside temp showed 35 so of course the compressor won't kick in to help dry the air inside. Had to crack the...

2003 GMC Denali 6.0L ext. cab 4wd Quadro Steer reliability?

Quadrasteer is awesome! The Quadrasteer sensor is known to go bad and up until a few months ago...nearly impossible to find a replacement. But there is a guy on one of the Quadrasteer forums on FB that has recreated it and sells them. Mine seems to act up when it's really cold outside. And...

Z71 roof rack on a GMC yukon xl lights ...

I used some Blazer driving lights from Autozone. I did have to epoxy them into the end caps so they are permanent. Light output is great.

Last week i was driving up a steep hill, then truck stalls out. Since then truck cranks but no start

Get it running yet? If it was low on fuel when going up steep hill...try hitting bottom of fuel tank with a rubber mallet. Old school fix. Could have picked up some sediment in fuel pump. My brother pushed his luck with the fuel gage on the interstate and ran out of gas. Took him 5 gallons...

    Faded Denali Wheel Center Caps

It's the clearcoat that looks bad. Pick up some Aircraft Paint Remover from the auto parts store and use it to strip the clear coat off. Not sure what's different about that paint remover...it's what was recommended to me. Afterwards just polish them up with some good aluminum polish. I did...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Be sure to do a small test spot. I used that on our camper and it removed the old adhesive...and the paint. Totally different paint than on our trucks but would suck to fubar the paint. If nothing else, light wet sanding with high grit followed with polishing with a buffer will take care of it.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yeah I love the look of those lights but it is a flawed design. The reflectors should arc behind each bulb...not one big arc behind both the turn signal and tail/turn light. I bet I went through about 5 pairs of different LED's bulbs until I landed on those.

    Chasing a P0300

I had the dreaded P0300 on my 04 Denali. Took it to 3 shops and since it was random, they couldn't figure it out. Dealership recommended a new engine...it actually says that on the ticket! Ended up being coil packs. Once I looked at those as a possible issue...I noticed the truck had 3...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I had those on my Denali and went through a ton of LED bulbs until I found some on eBay that filled the lens pretty good with light. Those funnel like reflectors seem to help pretty good. Thought this might save you some time...

Looking for advice on best way to install a double din radio

I'm not sure on the bezel...but like others stated a double din that plays CD/DVD will require trimming inside the dash. Most of the digital media receivers (no CD/DVD slot) are not as deep so may not require any trimming. It's the bottom of the double din units that is too deep and hit part...

Water leak into driver side front door jam/frame/kick panel

I'm lucky...mine was an easy fix. Right before I bought the truck, previous owner replaced original cab lights with aftermarket LED ones...that don't seal worth a chit. Right after a rain storm came through yesterday I checked the truck and had water dripping from from the overhead console and...

Water leak into driver side front door jam/frame/kick panel

After Hurricane Isaias went through here I too have water on front passenger side floor. So I'll be joining the find the water leak party! Just noticed it today but didn't have time to start looking for leak. Good times!

Rear glass hinge separated from glass

I got the 3M adhesive yesterday but I think I'll go the junkyard route instead. Nothing like a good excuse to head to the junkyard! Thanks for the advice!

Rear glass hinge separated from glass

Anyone have one of the hinges come unglued from the glass on the rear hatch? Passenger side hinge on mine came unglued making it very difficult to close the glass. I had to remove the lift cylinder on that side to get the window to close without being pushed way up. The lift cylinders were...

2006 gmc yukon xl slt option 2 roof rack

Yes...minus one bolt on the rear most pieces. The Z71 rack has one more bolt than the regular racks. But it still works fine. I put a Z71 rack on my Denali and I've had 3 kayaks and 2 surfboards on the rack with no issues at all. Rack has since been moved to my 2500 and fit the same as it...

2005 yukon denali - body molding removal?

Once you pull those panels off, the running boards look horrible on the truck. Those panels are much thicker at the bottom then the top. I pulled those panels and running boards off my Denali because I just didn't like the look after I lifted the truck. The rear quarter panels on mine were...

    A/C blows warm at idle

Could be the fan clutch. Mechanical fans inherently spin slower at slower RPM's. If the fan clutch is going bad it won't engage (if that's the right word) as RPM's slow to spin the fan faster thus pulling less air through condenser. Not enough air flow to pull heat from condenser and high...

window trim removal for tint installation

You don't need to remove any trim to put the tint on. If you're not familiar with installing tint, check out some online videos...they help a lot! One to really look for is the doors...the trick is to roll the windows down a bit to expose the top of the glass. Remove tint backing from the top...

    daytime running lights sensor?

My 04 was the same way...night mode all the time. Not sure if 01 is the same but on mine the sensor is a little brown plastic bubble on the center of the dash at the base of the windshield. Previous owner used to leave stuff on top his dash and something slid across dash and broke sensor...
