Thanks man but I ended up having my mechanic source the parts from the dealer and the transfer case has been rebuilt and works great now. Probably not the cheapest route but it was the easiest and quickest option at the time.
My 2004 Yukon XL 2500 needs to have the transfer case overhauled. The bearing at the back where the rear driveshaft connects is making a 'whirring' noise like a wheel bearing going out. There is also a clicking type noise coming from inside transfer case somewhere. Anyone come across the same...
Ok here's a good one. I swapped the door panels complete with power switches between my 04 Denali and 04 2500. After doing so, the keyless/alarm remotes also swapped. It seems the remotes are tied into the driver's side power switch module. The lock/unlock works on both but the alarm will...
Anyone replace the factory running boards with nerf bars on a 2500 Yukon/Suburban? I'm in the middle of swapping 3" stainless nerf bars on my Denali with the factory running boards from the 2500. Got everything off and running boards put on the Denali. Problem I found is there isn't a body...
Yes exactly! I'd love to get those for mine but haven't seen any yet in our local junk yards. I wasn't sure if the rack was chromed, stainless or just a cover...never seen one close up.
Great find! Anyone know if those Escalade racks are the same as the Suburban LTZ racks? I know the Escalade ones are low profile but I'm talking about the polished long sections that run front to back. I'd love to get one of those for the Z71 rack I have.
No...I always put cab lights on my trucks just because I like the way they look. I didn't know they came factory on the Quadrasteers until I found this one. There's a rear clearance light bar above the 3rd brake light in the back too. I thought someone rigged up another brake light at first.
It sure does! Talk about icing on the cake...I wanted a 2500 for towing purposes and couldn't believe I found one with Quadrasteer. Can't wait to pull the camper for the first time!
Came across this gem for sale on CL and got it for a steal! It needs a little work (oil leak, a/c comprssor, power steering pump) but once that's all done I'll still be in the middle of the green zone in the KBB value. It's a 2004 with 180k miles, spent all it's life until 2 years ago in FL...
Not saying it's the right way but my Yukon has 3 broken exhaust manifold bolts and I have the cheater brackets on and have had no leaks. And that's with long tube headers. Money was the holdup on me getting the broken bolts removed but since nothing is leaking, I'm gonna leave it like it is...
I talked to my mechanic about the issue and he's not 100% sure it's the head gaskets. That is based solely on the fact he believes the heads have been off the engine before based on how the head gaskets look from the outside and grease pencil markings on the engine. Yukon had 186k miles on it...
I'm afraid I know the answer to this but want some more opinions on the issue please.
Started about a year ago after pulling our camper on a 4 hour trip. Yukon ran great, no issues. Next morning I start it up and there is a horrible tapping sound...ended up being lifters. Once engine warmed...
My 04 Denali has the Vette servo installed. It was installed to help with towing our camper. Shifting definitely improved with the servo installed. In fact after the install, there are times the front tires will chirp (AWD remember) when going from 1st to 2nd under a heavy foot (not when...
Mine had a lifter tick but that noise on yours is much different. I wouldn't think it's lifters. Do you have a mechanics stethoscope? That may help isolate where it's coming from. I think I got mine from Harbor Freight. Good luck!
I had the same problem...it was the connection under the driver's seat. I unplugged it, made sure pins were in good and reconnected. It happens every now and then if my wife drives the truck and moves the seat. I just push the wires in a bit and it's good until she moves the seat again!
Not sure of the part number...I still have them but they are up in the attic. I ordered directly from MSD because I wasn't sure which ones to order. I've always had good success with MSD parts on other vehicles. May have just gotten a few bad ones...dunno.
There were 3 coil packs that went south. 2 were showing a lot of misfires and 1 not as much. Moved them to 'good' cylinders and the misfires followed the coil packs. I've never have a problem with MSD stuff before...loved the MSD ignition on my Bronco...but just didn't work on the Yukon. It...
I highly recommend sticking with AC Delco stuff. I put MSD coil packs and wires in my Yukon and picked up a miss less than a year later. Figuring it couldn't be the new MSD stuff, I didn't even consider them causing the miss. After fighting the miss for a couple weeks I swapped out the MSD...
Looks like I'm heading to Lowe's real soon! I've got some white paint leftover from painting the flares so should be a quick and cheap mod. Thanks for the info guys!
Looks much cleaner without that rear wiper! Man I'd like to remove mine. But being my truck is white those plugs would stand out real bad. I don't think they'd take to paint too well. Maybe sometime down the road I'll have the extra $$ to get the holes filled in and gate painted.
