Official 00-06 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade drop guide with pics...

I have the Crown springs on my unit. They seem to be a little soft and bounce over having the stocks installed. Was concerning the Belltech Coils. But wanted to know if you have any bounce with the springs you installed.

    Best radio I've ever had

Looks nice. I have a pioneer head unit in my car now. I really don't like it. Have the hardest time trying to adjust the sound quality. Had a Boss system in my Saab. It sounded awesome. Once I get all my mechinal issues iron out. Going to be grading to one of these with an new amp. Like your...

    My Project Tahoe

Its been awhile and have been driving the Tahoe some more. Seems things are settling into place. Wanted to make sure I was right about things before throwing more parts at her. The death wobble is gone. The shocks cured it. The only issue is the slop in the steering wheel. I am pretty sure...

    My Project Tahoe

I will agree with you on the safety on the steering and suspension. I want it to perform and drive safe. I notice the Belltech springs are coiled in the right way. Where the coils on the bottom are tighter together than the top. That would eliminate the bounce. The Crown springs are not designed...

Thanks so much for the link. The price of just those springs is the total price of my Crown kit with the drop spindles...lol Would like to get them and try them out. But what to do with the other ones. Plus I have my air bag system in the springs. Be a challenge to get them out out of the springs.

That is my next step. If that doesn't improve things, I'll try the steering box.

Makes since. I'll have to check out the other lowering springs and see if it makes a difference. Its ok in town for right now. But worry about highway speeds would intensify the issue.

    My Project Tahoe

Today's project; Side Mirrors not working. Sometimes the mirrors would work and other times they would only work in one direction. Thought about going to the PPL and getting an old switch. Problem with that is the old unit is out in the rain. Or you don't know if it works. If it did work you...

    My Project Tahoe

Haven't decided about getting different springs just yet. If I do, I don't know which ones to get. Everyone said the bilsteins are softer. I don't need softer. Worst case would be take the originals and cut them down.

    My Project Tahoe

Yes, Couple of reasons. One was price. This is a budget build and trying to get the most done with what little money I can get by with. Save over $100 by not going with Bilsteins. I compared both shocks and they seemed to be the same. Remember I am going to be towing. The Mono-Max shocks are...

    My Project Tahoe

Was a pretty day so took on the project of installing my New shocks. Got a good work out and only took about 1 1/2 hours. Installed KYB Mono-Max shocks. I have to say it improved the handling quit a bit. When you turn into a corner it doesn't lean and doesn't stay in the corner. Levels out as...

    My Project Tahoe

So have new shocks on order and should be here today. So just in time for a good weekend project and another good work out. Will see if the shocks improve the ride. I have no doubt that is the issue. But I think the rear springs are not strong enough. I would be better off cutting the original...

Pour one out for a fallen Yukon

Thanks for the info. I'll look into replacing the insulators when I do the shocks. They didn't seem all that bad. But they are over 20 years old. Might as well.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to check them out.

    My Project Tahoe

Wobble was after I drop it. Rode great before. Matter fact it rode and took corners really good. Now not so much now. If you every rode in a Jeep you would know what the "Death Wobble is". Its where it would roll from side to side when you hit a bump in the road. Or turn to sharp. You can tell...

    My Project Tahoe

Drove to the hardware store the other day. The car has almost like a death wobble. I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that did the same thing. But it was 4wd and was a common thing on Jeeps. Thinking about upgrading the shock to KBD Mono-Max shocks. You can diffidently tell the new springs...

    My Project Tahoe

Okay, just got back from the alignment shop. Now everything is point straight. It seems the front has drop some too. So what ever they did seem to help to drop it. Now the only thing I don't like so far about the drop kit is the rear springs. They cause the back end to bounce. Just wonder if new...

    My Project Tahoe

Very cool. I think I'll just find some stock GMC 20" wheels with good rubber on them. Can find them cheap and would be a direct bolt on. The 18" that are on there now are from what I think is a 2015 year.

    My Project Tahoe

Before After. Not much of a difference. I think it will look better once I get 20" wheels. Didn't won't to slam it just yet. Remember, I got this in order to tow a small camper for me and the DW to vacation in. So the bags will help with the weight. I go today and get it aligned. I kind of...

    My Project Tahoe

So now the front suspension is completed, onto the rear. Installing 3" drop springs with Firestone bag inserts. The Crown kit also comes with shock extenders. So using the shocks that are on the car for now. Might upgrade those later as time permits. The goal right now is to update the front...

    My Project Tahoe

Had to remove the hub bearing bolts to use on the new spindles. So with that in mind I wanted to remove the old bearings. Just in case I don't like the drop, I could reuse the old Spindles. If you ever have to remove old front bearings. This tool is a life saver. Couple wacks with a Big Hammer...

    My Project Tahoe

Just purchase a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, really cheap. Had bought this so we could tow a small camper with it. But I wanted something that I could play with. Wanted to always build a street rod of some kind. With the available after market parts for these cars. Seem to be a perfect fit. And they...
