Just parked the 2018 PPV in the garage

I can't help but think this thing is actually bigger then our 2010 Tahoe. Perhaps it's the 'slab sides' and the fact that our 2010 has a 2/3" drop kit on it, but I think that every time I walk out into the garage.

Just parked the 2018 PPV in the garage

So far, yes. Now our 2010 Tahoe has developed a miss at idle, which moved up the purchase date for the 2018. It never had an issue with the lifters, but am fearing that may be what's happened to it now. It seems okay off-idle, but has a definite dead miss at idle. No noises, or drop in...

Just parked the 2018 PPV in the garage

The Caprice is a 2012. Was a Wisconsin Highway Patrol car. Got it from Cop Cars Online, same place we got the 2010 Tahoe. It's been overall a great car. Put coil-overs on it, swayers and an exhaust, and that's about it. I, too, have heard bad things about the DOD, but the car had the...

Just parked the 2018 PPV in the garage

Our new to us 2018 Tahoe was finally rolled off the transporter this afternoon. Not too bad a shape. Have a couple of things to fix, as usual, but overall, it's nice. It was an East Texas County Sheriff's vehicle. Let the mods begin! First up is the key fob. It looks like they used it to...

    Finally got my 2015 PPV

Thank you. It looks like headlights are one of the few things shared between 2010 and 2018, so we'll probably just swap them out between the two trucks.

    Finally got my 2015 PPV

What headlights did you get? Looks like we're updating soon to a 2018. I'll see if the ones from the 2010 fit, otherwise, we'll be shopping for new ones. Thanks.

    2010 Tahoe PPV cylinder misfire

The place I though would do that work said they no longer get that deep into engines. While they offered another company they said they've had good luck with, it's downtown Houston, probably 40 miles away. Since the expense of a possible lifter and cam job may outrun the value of the truck...

    2010 Tahoe PPV cylinder misfire

So FAIL! Finally got the plug wire and plug out. It's under the firewall cowl and just opposite razor-sharp heat shields for the A/C. The guy who makes those heat shields must moonlight for the Ginzu knife company! Anyway, the plug showed wear, but was dry and the color looked good. Put...

    2010 Tahoe PPV cylinder misfire

I'm really hoping not. I can tell you there are zero odd noises I can hear. I'd expect there to be some extra tapping or rattles if we had a lifter collapsing. We'll start checking things today. Anyone know where the vapor canister purge valve hose goes into the intake? In the middle of the...

SSV OWNER WITH PPV SUSPENSION QUESTIONS

We have the Belltech 2/3 drop kit on our 2010, and are pleased with it. The rear springs are a bit soft, so we added a 1/2" spacer to keep the truck off the rear bump stops. From looking at the Belltech web site, they show the same kit for the RWD/AWD models. Best to call them, though, and...

    Would you

SWMBO will definitely have the last say in the matter, or you'll never hear the end of it, but my bride would be all over that, since ex-service vehicles is all she'll drive. We see great value in them, but some folks want the pillow-like ride other vehicles have and want to be entertained...

    2010 Tahoe PPV cylinder misfire

Had to run our usual Saturday errands this morning, so took the PPV. It seems to run on all 8 at anything except idle. Romp on it, and it accelerates as I'm accustomed to. When cruising down the road at a steady state, it drops into DOD mode, as usual. When warm, and you start it, it seems...

    2010 Tahoe PPV cylinder misfire

I doubt that. It's blowing completely out the TB and intake tract. According to the dedicated driver, everything seems fine except at idle. I get to drive it this weekend.

    2010 Tahoe PPV cylinder misfire

Yes, another misfire thread. The CFO came home today saying she noted her truck running rough at idle. Ran okay, otherwise. I went out and checked, and sure enough, at idle it seems to have a miss. Got the OBDII analyzer out and connected it up and 'cylinder 7 misfire'. I forget the code...

    Dashboard Replacement 2013 GMT900 Yukon/Tahoe

FYI, the main dash panel P/N 23224747 noted in this thread has apparently been replaced with P/N 19331336. Pretty much same price, IIRC. I have on on order, since I knee-jerked and ordered the Dorman front panel for our 2010 PPV.

    Fueling problem

Note that when I was out in the shop the other day, I still had the old purge valve laying on the counter. Since the new one I installed last month worked fine with no codes, I figured I'd never use the old one again, so picked it up to throw away. I gave it a shake, and could hear something...

Do you know where to get this?

I'm sure you have, but I'll ask just the same; have you tried calling these guys: Rubber the right way - (866) 789-7879 Steele Rubber Products - 800-447-0849 They're the experts in seals. Steele Rubber Products have profiles of the seals/gaskets on their web site, so you could just sit down...

    Fueling problem

We were outside and I'm sure the vacuum pulled across the air filter in the vacuum kept the AFR too low to be flammable. Being a brushless motor, the possibility of generating a spark is low, too.

    Fueling problem

Bringing this back up, because it appears we may have fixed the fuel fill issue on our '10 Tahoe. We, at least, have one fill on record with no issues. We'll see how it does next time. Late last year, the truck started having trouble kicking the fuel nozzle off when trying to fill up. This...

    2011 Chevy Tahoe PPV

'Displacement on Demand'. Under light engine loads and under certain speeds, the engine goes into 4-cylinder mode. It can sometimes come across as a miss or vibration, depending on your sensitivity.

    2011 Chevy Tahoe PPV

At low speeds and constant throttle setting, DOD is a lot more pronounced, which is a possibility. It can become more pronounced if the mot mount(s) need replacing. Failed motor mounts, especially the driver’s side one, are a common issue with these trucks. Verify you’re not just experiencing...

    Lowering kit

We had to cut the ball joint stud AND install thinner nuts before the factory steel wheel would go on. I seem to remember there was a bit more clearance on one side vs. the other, but both had to get the trim and thinner nut.

    Any AFM indication without DIC?

^^This. As you get familiar with the truck, it will become obvious when it's in 4-cyl mode and not. After I installed the Airraid tube, you can even hear it when it switches between 4 -> 8 cyl mode.

I'm rarely a fan of aftermarket headlights, but I really do like those!

    My urban child hauler/office

I seem to remember having to do a similar mod when going from the plastic bulb to glass on our PPV. It's been a few years, though, so don't remember exactly what that mod was.
