    A/C Belt

Same freaking thing with the '10 Tahoe!! At least not the parts house rental units! The 'remover' tool that came in the rental kit worked great ,but not the installer tool. These are the plastic tools that are kind of an orangy-red color. The installer tool catches on what I think is the...

Slight "thud" on moderate accel from standstill

At >100K miles, if you haven't replaced a motor mount, it is the motor mount. AND in the outside chance it is not, it soon will be, so replacing the driver's side motor mount with the Hummer mount will be money well spent.

This sound like a bad brake hose?

If it only does it hot, I'd be betting caliper. The hose will usually just refuse to let fluid flow all the time. I'd verify though, since you could have a hose that's collapsed some but things only act locked up after all the parts heat up. Had a hose collapse on our 98 Dakota R/T. I...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I'm pretty sure our '10 PPV has a steel driveshaft.

    2013 new owner towing report

Yeah, 135-deg F is not that bad. I'd be MUCH more concerned with the 235-deg F coolant temps. Any were you running in second? No wonder the engine got so hot.

2007 PPV BCM Reprogramming & Activating Civilian Options

Ditto! But that said, can't Blackbear do it?

Aftermarket head unit swap in your PPV

Adding backup/rear view camera capability would be about the only reason I'd replace the OEM head unit. That's nice.

    A/C Belt

A few carefully-aimed kicks to the nards seem to be in order for that stupid design! I was hoping for a tensioner on the A/C belt, but noooo. I spent some considerable time digging through the FSM to try to find the instructions for doing this, but have so far come up empty handed. To all...

    New guy DRL question

None of the police vehicles around here have working DRLs. Neither of our retired cars do either. I guess it's something you can enable with a BCM flash, but that's one of the things that distinguish a LEO vehicle, in my part of the world, at least.

New ppv owner with a question

^^ This! IF the truck is running fine, tape off any bare wires, and tuck what’s there safely out of the way. The extra couple of pounds of wire, if that, won’t make any difference to performance or economy. Our Tahoe had no extra wires, our Caprice had a harness and fuse block in the passenger...

Ex-police cruisers. Look better painted or left police colors?

Yep. You've obviously never owned an ex-police vehicle. Many are actually, in their own way, pretty special. There are specific examples I'd never get in, or own, but we currently DD two ex-police vehicles. They're our 3rd and 4th such vehicles. We'll do it again. Most of the things listed...

    My first PPV

First off: Welcome! The steering wheel looks a lot like our original one did. First thing we replaced, and it made a huge difference in the interior. Not as much as the console add, but really made the thing look better. Check the spare tire lift. It's probably rusted frozen. New...

Hole in the oil pan, strange debris, but drives

The old one siezed because it received NO maintenance. Get a new one, spray some white lithium grease in it, cycle it a couple of times, install. Then, maintain it. Every oil change, or so, go roll the spare down, clean and re-grease as appropriate. I don't think the things got any...

    Spotlight

And some strip the oddest stuff off and leave other. Our '12 Caprice had an deck lid antenna still on the car, about $80 new, but they took the $10 ticket light. @phil, I think if the truck is supposed to have a spot GM will punch the hole, since the A-pillar is a very high-strength steel...

Buying a shop service repair manual

Helm makes the OEM shop manuals for GM. They do have them via USB and/or CD for some models, but unfortunately no more are available for the 2011 Yukon. They do have the paper version available...

Hole in the oil pan, strange debris, but drives

Dang, I was hoping to see pictures of the carnage! :Whoa: Anyway, sounds like the rod broke, but the lower end of the rod stayed on the crank so you didn't lose too much oil pressure, hence the ability to drive it some. But it would be interesting to see. Many salvage yards local to me charge...

    2008 PPV - SUSPENSION UPGRADE

With a 3/3-4 kit, you'll HAVE to do the free travel mod. The truck will be sitting on the bumpstops 100% of the time if you don't. That will mess with handling and ride quality. We have the 2/3-4 kit on our '10 Tahoe, and it's about as low as you can go without other mods. I did add a 1"...

    Light Bar on back.

That's cool. It looks like it attaches to the back window? I bet it just clips on the top of the back window, or perhaps uses the bolts that attach the back window to the hinge. But like Tony, I've never seen one like that. Most of the local LEO Tahoes around here have the appliques...

Rear windows only operate at drivers controls

Is the child safety switch (the one on the back door jamb of each rear door) turned? If that's not the case, you can try to cycle the lockout switch on the driver's door to make sure the contacts just don't have something gumming them up, like some SoccerMom's spilled latte from a previous...

    My 2013 PPV

Cool! Are they a 'pick-n-pull' style place, or do you go in and tell them what you need?

    My 2013 PPV

Yes, you got that stuff pretty cheap. Looks like you might be from the Houston area, so what salvage yard is rich in Tahoes and Suburbans? Most of the places I frequent those trucks are old, and pretty picked over.

PPV / SSV / Admin Package Owners - What do you Think?

Sigh, so I guess this means you're leaving the NNBS PPV Tahoe thread? Sorry to see you go. Nice ride, though!! If my 2012 Caprice keeps giving me crap, I may move into one of these. Not sure two Tahoes will fit in our garage, though. :-)

Will this steering wheel work on a 2012 PPV?

You should probably share the info where you got it. There are at least 3 DIC consoles in the first picture. Other PPV/SSV owners my be very interested in picking up one of those, especially since they already have the brushed aluminum finish panel attached.

    Turn Signal in mirrors

You have zero info on what year truck you have, but I don't think the NNBS PPV is wired for that. Our '10 wasn't anyway.

    P015B Check Engine Code

Depending on where you are, and what year truck, you should be able to go to just about any local parts houses to get the ECU scanned.
