New Moog CK80942 Upper Control Arm Ball Joint Boot Separated

Alright, I'm effing done with these guys. Keep in mind all these parts are marked as NEW and sold & shipped by Amazon. What I didn't say before was that the control arm in my first post was actually a replacement. The very first one I got had a mashed lower thread that prevented me from...

How do I know what size rear pinion flange seal I need?

Ok, great. Looks like I have 10 so it'll be a 8.625" seal. Does anyone know if any choice will do? I see OEM w/ PN# 26064028, but then lower priced Timken, AC Delco, & National with oddly the same PN# 710506.

How do I know what size rear pinion flange seal I need?

I've come across data that mentions 8.25", 8.625", and 9.5". How do I known which one I have?

Not even gonna bother with them. It'll be an Amazon exchange

What grease should be used for grease zerks?

I never really thought about it, but I've been using either EP moly grease or multi purpose lithium grease from O'Reilly's Masterpro brand. The stuff's got a black color to it.

New Moog CK80942 Upper Control Arm Ball Joint Boot Separated

I installed the arm without any issues, but I had to loosen the ball joint nut again for my unexpected lower ball joint replacement. I used a screw down ball joint separator and this is what happened. I can't see how this could've happened since I took great care not damage the boot when...

    24mm Ball Joint Separator?

I bought the same tool, but with no branding. The bolt ends up slipping off the end and butchering up the surface. I'm gonna try and get a replacement and see how that one does

CV Axle nut...what size is it?

Sorry for the update mods. I just wanted to say that for my 2001 Yukon, the nut is 35mm. It seems that if you're using an aftermarket axle, it will come with a 36mm nut. A 36mm socket will probably work, but I don't like living that wild.

How do you replace lower ball joint?

I'm looking at just getting the Moog K6541 ball joint since the LCA bushings seem fine to me. The ball joint looks different from the OEM ones, but I guess it's OK since nobody has really complained about them in reviews. Nobody has tried to replace just the boots on the OEM ones have they? I'd...

How do you replace lower ball joint?

After replacing my upper control arm, I looked down and saw that somehow the boot on my lower ball joint split open during the repair. I looked up info on it for my Yukon, but data seems sparse. One place mentioned I'd have to drill out rivets. If you know about a dealer tool to do the job...

    No heat from front vents

Welp, it looks like I might've overlooked something. When I turned the temperature control knob, I turned it up to 82, but not all the way to the red mark after 82. Once I turned it completely to the red mark, I started to feel the heat working. It still seems kinda weird it won't blow hot at...

    No heat from front vents

I installed the 12703898 water pump along with the 15-11057 thermostat. I see that heat is coming from the rear vents and I also see that the heater core hoses are getting hot, but nothing is coming from the front. I also see that the lower radiator hose is not heating up. I let the engine...

Should water pump be replaced if gasket is leaking?

The old gaskets were definitely bad as the rubber was torn and not even attached on both of them. Wanted to report that the pump is leaking after gasket replacement, but there's more to it. To diagnose the leak this time, I removed the serp belt, belt tensioner, and cooling fan (probably not...

Which thermostat for updated water pump?

I've got a 2001 yukon and I got the water pump with the p/n 12703898 that has the number 12681178 stamped on it. I'm really confused about what thermostat to use. The description at ac delco for the water pump says: Which is weird since there's like 3 different years being mentioned. The one...

    What coolant should I use?

Here's a video I found that echo's SnowDrifter's fill instructions. I did add the coolant and let it idle for quite some time. The temp went up to around 197F. That sound right?

    Several ABS codes

I ended separating the connector cover with a small screwdriver and pushing on that space below the green mark. It somehow made it easier and less rigid to push. I then very carefully wiggled left to right while pulling the connector down. A bunch of dried mud fell out after. This mud is just...

    Several ABS codes

Does anyone know how to remove the ECBM connector? I got the red tab pulled down, but it ain't budging.

    What coolant should I use?

As per your recommendation in my other thread, I opted to replace my pump gaskets. This is what I'm going through to do it. Oh yes, I actually did use distilled water when I was flushing.

    What coolant should I use?

I'm still concerned about this.I got my water pump off and for some reason all my lower pump bolts were blackened. The two clean ones were highest up. Here are pics of the driver and pass side head coolant openings also.

    What coolant should I use?

OK, what's happening here? I'm now seeing smoke coming from the exhaust. Also, when I look closer at it, it looks like puddling water. On my last flush I filled water from the top hose until water spilled out from the reservoir. I then ran the car 6 or 7 minutes with the the heat on high...

    What coolant should I use?

So you're saying that I don't need to remove the thermostat to do the flush? I tried to pull it out of the housing, but it seems pretty stuck in there. Also, how do you know when to stop filling the upper rad hose? I forgot to remove the thermostat at this point, but I put about 1.5gal water in...

    What coolant should I use?

It looks like 7.9qts which seems to convert to 1.975 gal. So that's around 2 gallons of straight dexcool. Wow, that seems like so much coming from driving smaller cars.

    What coolant should I use?

I see where they T off. Looks like I do have rear A/C. Thanks.

    What coolant should I use?

OK. I planned to just remove the thermostat, run the engine 5 or 10 minutes, then drain. Is it still necessary to fill from the upper rad hose under these conditions? Also, in the manual, I see that the cooling system capacity is 14.4qts for 5.3L with front A/C and 15.8qts for 5.3L with front &...

    What coolant should I use?

Thanks for pointing that out. I will go ahead and flush and fill the way you recommend. If I flush it till I see the lower rad hose drain clear, how will I be able to get the correct 50/50 ratio in the end? My plan was to flush it good and then mix concentrate Dex cool with water but if I mix...
