    Passenger Seat Draining Battery

Subscribing as my 04 Tahoe chews thru batteries ever since I picked it up 2014. Sometimes the power seat switch on the driver's side is reversed, push switch forward & seat moves back and vice versa. If yours does that too, that could be symptomatic of the seat problem.

Factory Bose 6 disc changer, in dash stereo REPAIR

Correct, they are VIN coded. There is a way to do away with the VIN not matching. Found a You Tube where a particular chip is removed from the radio circuit board and that goes away. I was going to swap the changer portion as you did, but the complete radio I bought has a bad changer. I...

Factory Bose 6 disc changer, in dash stereo REPAIR

The factory stereo in my 04 Tahoe Z71 no longer ejects CDs. I took it out, opened it up by removing the top lid and found a broken gear on the Eject mechanism. I have picked up 2 other factory stereos that I was assured both of them had functional CD changer 6 disc mechanisms. Neither...

    Expected transmission life span

I'm sitting just over 260k and debating when is the right time to rebuild my trans? Is there any advantage to rebuilding it now, when it's still working vs. waiting til it just gives up the ghost? Anyone have info on recommended upgrades that I've previously heard about? 2004 Tahoe 4wd...

Hope so. Let's see what he says.

    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

How can you drive on a busted ball joint?

    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

What was the total cost on the front parts you bought? For the parts you bought, there was not a kit, correct? Thanks.

    Ebay front end repair kit

Thanks MCAT069. Real world experience is what I was hoping for in replying here in this thread. 1A Auto ruled out. Were all the parts of poor quality, or mostly the ball joints? Thanks again.

    Expected transmission life span

What I have been doing with decent success so far, knock on wood, is to have drop the pan & replace the filter every 50k or so. When that is done, you swap out ~5-ish quarts. In addition, every 3rd oil change or so I pull the plug on the trans pan to drain then refill. That again swaps out...

    Expected transmission life span

Thank you for weighing in from the perspective of someone in the know. I thought 3200 sounded like a lot. I am in CA, so I suppose the price will be higher, given that everything costs more here. I have also been told by a longtime Chevy line mechanic that there is something about 2nd gear...

Aux cord install on original Bose radio

Thanks for the pic. That looks like the only I used. For some unknown reason, I am getting bleed thru of the XM signal. Apparently there are differing versions of this jack and some are better than others. Thanks again.

    Expected transmission life span

Okay, you got me there. It must be something about how I drive that both transmissions have exhibited the same behavior with high mileage. Where are you located? Do you do rebuilds? What does it run, or if you don't what should it run on average, for a freshen up on an '04?

    Expected transmission life span

I'm not so sure of that. I've been able to make it do that for well over 50k miles. It is 1 particular combo of on the gas, off the gas, on the gas. Not only have I been able to replicate this with my current 04 Tahoe, it also did the exact same thing in an 01 Suburban I used to drive. I...

    Expected transmission life span

My '04 has ~258k on the original and still driving. (Knocks on wood) It does funny shi(f)t if I'm on the gas, let off for a second or two, then get back on the gas. When I do that, it will act like it's slipping, and allow the engine to rev up. I always back off the skinny pedal, then it...

Aux cord install on original Bose radio

Would you mind linking or showing the type of jack you are talking about? I have only seen 1 type of mini jack from different sources. The cheapness, and lack of resilience out of the commonly found jack is a bummer. Thanks in advance.

    Cutting out the spare?

If you're not sure which end to use, look in your manual or look on the plastic instruction sheet that is sewn into the bag that holds the tools. Both places show which tool and which end to use.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

My initial post was warm/hot exhaust, hot engine, drip. With temperature differences as you mention, it makes perfect sense. Thanks.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

I know, right. And an owner and previous owner that takes care of it.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Thanks for all the posts and info. I may look for that tool as it sure beats pulling a valve cover and all that entails. The recent lack of power has me concerned, but it could just be age thing too.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

I thought the intake manifold gasket problems were in the prior generation, 99 & earlier Vortec 350, not in the LS based 5.3 engine.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Next time I see it, I'll go in for a wiff. It does seem a bit down on power, but it also has 250k on original everything, except tune up parts.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Thank you for all the replies. I know that condensation out the tailpipe is typical. The reason I asked is because it seems to be a tad more than I have seen typically in the past. I thought I saw a post here or on GMFS about that possibly being a tell tale sign. Is there any other...
