    Engine swap '04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

Been driving the Tahoe on and off for the last month. It's been a pleasure to drive and I think the 6.0 is substantial over the old worn 5.3, but I haven't yet decided if that is a placebo effect. I had the ECM bench tuned to enable the fans and adjust for cam & idle; proper dyno tune still on...

    04 Tahoe wiper arm skipping

Thanks, I will check both of those out as possible causes. Blades are relatively new and wipe clean at slower speeds. This is just a problem at highway speeds, which makes me think it is arm related. How are the washer nozzles attached to the arm, clipped on?

    04 Tahoe wiper arm skipping

With all the rain we've been having in Socal recently, I've noticed that the driver's side wiper isn't doing a good job. At low speeds on the street, both wipers wipe clean, however, at highway speeds, the driver's side wiper is almost 'skipping'(for lack of a better word) across the...

AC Delco plug wires date coded?

Are AC Delco spark plug wires date coded anywhere? The ones in my Tahoe are working well, no misfire or anything like that, but I do not know how old they are since I'm not original owner of the vehicle. I've adopted the idea, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It would be good to know though...

    REAR END UPGRADES

I will find out the answer to your question in the next few months. I have the axle, but it's not installed yet. There are 2 minor differences I've noticed already but haven't seen what it'll take to overcome them. The rear drop brake line is single on my Tahoe 10b and the drop brake line on...

    Escalade hatch on Tahoe

I agree with what you said. My path has just been to improve my simple 04 Tahoe Z71 with 335k miles as I've become aware of some of the creature comforts available on the higher end SUVs. It really is unfortunate that the higher end rigs were only offered in AWD which to me is a negative, not...

    Escalade hatch on Tahoe

Had GM offered the Escalade in selectable 4wd like the Tahoe, Suburban, I would've done that. The AWD only is what pushed me away from the Escalade or Yukon Denali.

05-06 Cadillac Escalade Platinum seats retrofit to Tahoe

Yes possibly. Just fishing to see if anyone has unraveled the wiring yet. Looks like not. It sure does. I've been looking at the wiring and the seats to see if I could even just remove the cooling parts and retrofit them to my Tahoe seats.

    Escalade hatch on Tahoe

It's kind of unclear, did you use the factory seat control switch that's in the lower console dash in the Escalade Platinum, and just mount it elsewhere? Or did you use some other generic switch to control the seat cooling system? I'm considering pulling a set of Platinum seats for use in a...

05-06 Cadillac Escalade Platinum seats retrofit to Tahoe

Took care of the ~$100 airbag problem. A little disassembly and ended up with the only part that was important to me for $11. The whole airbag assy comes apart very easily. I was working gingerly as I wasn't sure if it was going to go off or what.

05-06 Cadillac Escalade Platinum seats retrofit to Tahoe

And a dovetail question about the Escalade Platinum concerning interior color. One of the passenger side dash vents that came home is missing one of the horizontal flaps. Is the interior & dash color unique only to the Escalade Platinum? All the other dash vents in other rigs at the yard I...

05-06 Cadillac Escalade Platinum seats retrofit to Tahoe

So a Caddy Escalade Platinum recently showed up in a local Pick your Part. I've scavenged a few bits and pieces from it already, other sought after parts(door panels, cluster) were already gone by the time I got to it. The heated and cooled seats are still there along with the dash switch to...

    14 bolt rear end swap?

If you get an AXN rear axle from an 05-06 Escalade, there is no assortment or gear ratio. They are all 3.73:1 gear. I have one sitting on the ground waiting to go in a Tahoe and they're kinda rare in the GMT800 vehicles. 2wd Escalade 6.0 Only.

    Flex Fuel

There is definitely a mileage hit with E85. I've seen it ~30%+- lower fuel mileage. However it still makes sense and pencils out with the huge gap in price.

    Flex Fuel

Except here in CA, where the bureaucRATS running the state are making more on a gallon of gas than any 'evil' oil company, ripping us all off as Gavin Newscum said. The thing is, that RAT Gavin and his merry band of Commies are the ones doing the ripping off. I have two flex fuel vehicles and...

    Engine swap '04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

Thank you all for commenting and providing .02 cents. Let me clarify, I plan to have it tuned by a dyno shop pro at some point in the future. I was hoping it would run well enough in the mean time so I could drive it to the trans shop for a rebuild and then drive to the dyno guy as well. The...

    Engine swap '04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

Yesterday I drove the Tahoe for the first time but had to cut it short due to an idle issue it's having. On first start up when cold, it idles well. It seems like once it warms a bit(not at full operating temp) and goes into closed loop I'd assume, the idle deteriorates and if you blip the...

    Engine swap '04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

Thanks Rocket Man for the suggestion. As it turns out, right about the time that you posted that reply, I pulled a spare Escalade cluster that I have(I pick them up from local PYP's when I find them and sell on the side) and installed it in the Tahoe. As soon as I turned the key to On...

    Engine swap '04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

Thank you for the reply. From the research I've done, it's not clear that a VATS Passlock reset is necessary. In your opinion, is it necessary to relearn since the PCM and battery were removed for a year? I did find the relearn process you mentioned and it's how you said, about 30 minutes...

    Engine swap '04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

Picture for attention, nothing too exciting visually, just a typical engine compartment, but look at the cyl head casting # and that's where the excitement is. Fast fwd 3 months and it's all back together and in the Tahoe now. I have everything put back together, no extra leftover parts or...

Intake tube differences Silverado v SUV v Model Year

Ahh, that makes that the extra passive chambers would quiet down the intake throatyness. Thanks I didn't think of that as the reasoning for it. Anyone else second that thought and rationale?

Intake tube differences Silverado v SUV v Model Year

Recently I noticed there are differences between the factory intake tubes on certain model years and models of GMT800 trucks & SUVs. By intake tube I mean the hard plastic portion between the mass air flow sensor/airbox and the throttle body. It seems like mostly the trucks received a smaller...
