Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Last weekend, I had the engine running in Park for about 15-20 minutes. I noticed after a while that there was a wet spot right below the tailpipe from a drip. Is this a tell tale sign of possible cracked head? My 04 Tahoe Z71 5.3 has "862" casting # heads and I haven't seen any reference...

    receiver hitch for 2015+

Thanks for the post. That amount of drop is what I'm seeing too, and it seems like a huge drop, given that this Yukon is not lifted. I've only seen that large amount of drop used before on a lifted vehicle. I guess moving the hitch that much is the culprit. Guess I have to buy all new...

    receiver hitch for 2015+

I have a few ball mount, hitch receivers with different balls for stuff I tow, from previous generations of GM Full size truck & Suburban that I've owned. None of these work well on my 2015. I realize the hitch is now kind of behind the bumper instead of below it, and I think that is the...

    Ebay front end repair kit

Moving this back up. I am considering the kit from 1A Auto. I seem to remember reading and hearing good things about 1A Auto. Am I mistaken? The total cost of this kit and all it includes is hard to beat. See here...

Factory GM outer tie rod ends 19149617

Have a new pair of factory GM outer tie rod ends , GM part # 19149617 I was going to only replace tie rod ends at one point in the past, but have now decided to buy a complete kit and replace everything on my 250k mile Tahoe. It's time. GM cost $126.65 each plus tax and/or ship $225 for...

    Interesting Suburban

I find it interesting that GM didn't include the 7 gauge cluster on this vehicle.

    Interesting Suburban

I asked the same question and no one else has spoken up yet. I did a little search on kbb.com and there was no listing option for a 2006 Tahoe LTZ. There was only an option for 2006 Suburban LTZ, so it might be a 1 model rare bird option.

    Interesting Suburban

Interesting find there. Was there a Tahoe LTZ made in the same year, or only Sub?

    2004 Tahoe Z71 killing batteries

Interesting there is now two of us, wonder how many more there are? Yeah, I thought I was the crazy one or wondering if something I did or didn't do was the root cause of early battery death. Hope this thread finds the answer to this issue.

    2004 Tahoe Z71 killing batteries

I'll follow GM's lead, if the Tahoe required it, they would have spec'd AGM battery. This is the only vehicle I've owned that chewed thru a battery in 2 years. It's also the only vehicle I have ever had an AAA battery in. It could be either option causing the early death.

Losing fresh oil faster than old oil

I think it could be doing both eating and leaking....as we all do ;) I just know after paying closer attention to it, I have to add more early on vs. later on, in the oil change % cycle. Thanks for the info about viscosity.

Losing fresh oil faster than old oil

That's exactly what I was wondering.....if fresh oil has a smaller molecule that will slip past leaky seals and gaskets easier than dirty oil. To swerve this thread....where are the most common leak points on a 5.3? I would like to seal this back up, and I seem to remember hearing there are...

    2004 Tahoe Z71 killing batteries

Interesting post....I have read about the 03-06's sometimes having electrical gremlins that cause strange symptoms. Not sure if that is what is killing my batteries every 2 years.

    2004 Tahoe Z71 killing batteries

For the Tahoe I use std wet batteries. I don't spend the money on AGM for Tahoe. I've never had a wet battery only last 2 years. More typical life has been 4 years or more. Still thinking there is a underlying problem.

Losing fresh oil faster than old oil

04 Tahoe with 250k on the engine. I have the 5.3 Z"flex fuel" engine. It has the typical oil leaks that most all 5.3's have. I have noticed, right after an oil change that my oil level drops quicker than once the oil is a bit older. To explain better....in the first 3000 miles of oil usage...

    2004 Tahoe Z71 killing batteries

I've owned my Tahoe for a little over 3 years now. Bought it with 144k, just rolled 250k. Overall it's been good to me but as of this week, I'm wondering if there is something at work with the electrical system of this Tahoe. Out of the blue this week, my battery died, like barely start the...
