Click the RPO code for each individual engine and it gives specific info on that particular engine. If you want to see the 1st design and 2nd design cam bearing bore dimensions, click on...
317 heads which is what all 6.0s come with are pretty cheap these days. So many people remove them and swap to a 243/799 head for a compression bump on a factory 6.0. If you're after even higher compression, then the 862/706 heads from a 5.3 are the next best bet. The lq4 and lq9 both use the...
I did a quick search and found this thread with pictures of a cam with one of the inner bearings stuck to it. https://www.yellowbullet.com/threads/cam-bearing-came-out-when-removing-cam-6-0l-ls.2626433/
If you spend some time and search the web for Chevy LS Cam Bearing Failure, you will come...
Good luck finding a machine shop that will take the job for correcting the cam tunnel and doing O/S cam bearings. Sounds like it's a major PITA kind of job that most don't have the fixture or ability to do. I only found 1 place in Michigan and it was cost prohibitive. Better to just find a...
That would be a STEAL out here in CA. Would you sell the gauge cluster? I thought I was going to use the Denali cluster, but then I saw the 05-06 Escalade cluster and decided I liked that one better. Thanks.
To the OP, I was in the same boat as you, but my 5.3 didn't go boom. It just has really high mileage and leaks like a stuck squealin' pig. I figured why throw rebuild $$$ at a 5.3, when it's basically the same $$$ to rebuild a 6.0. The hard part is procuring a 6.0 as you've come to find...
I wonder if the 5.3 's also carried thru with the same change over(mid 2004), but I have not personally opened one of them up so I have no first hand knowledge. 4.8 who knows....because the 4.8 uses a different connecting rod than the 5.3/6.0.
The Gen4 "beefier rods" with floating wrist pins didn't only come in LQ9's. The changeover from the earlier connecting rod with pressed wrist pins to the later Gen4 rods happened sometime in 2004. I have an '04 LQ4 that came with the Gen4 rods, so it's not just LQ9 that got the better...
Seen pictures and read about these in the past. I've considered buying one of these to replace an 04 Tahoe but had never seen one locally. That was until this week when one showed up in a pick your part yard. I went there to try to get some of the LTZ unique parts from it but it was...
Thanks for the suggestions on the 'vette filter, which I knew about that option. Instead of using the 'vette filter I am interested in swapping fuel pumps to get to the same end(no return line). Since I need the fuel pump replaced anyway, that is why I'm considering going this route vs. the...
I recently ran across an 05 Escalade being parted out that has the factory large screen head unit, Nav? that is Bose as well. My 04 Tahoe Z71 has the Bose system with the 6CD changer factory head unit.
Will the Escalade head unit swap into my Tahoe and work......other than having to have it...
I have no idea if this will work, but wanted to ask here if anyone has gone this route in dealing with the no return line of a TBSS fuel rail. I have an 04 Tahoe with 5.3FF "Z" vin code. That engine has a return line in 04. If I were to swap to the later 05-06 Tahoe 5.3FF fuel pump, would...
Or just use the regular HD truck cluster which is basically the same as the Denali cluster but with regular lighting color and black background. You should be able to swap needles from a standard or HD cluster too if you wanted the other features of the Denali cluster.
Thanks all. It's interesting that the only fuel pump listed for a flex fuel Z engine is the Professional with no listing for GM Original OEM. Am I missing something here?
All GMT800 SUV's Tahoe/Escalade/Yukon(Denali & Std) use the same fuel pump(MU-1639), so no problem there. The only...
Thanks. Do you know what the difference is between flex fuel and non flex fuel pumps?
The MU2294 pump is Professional line and the only ACDelco pump listed for a Flex fuel Tahoe...
Is there an actual difference between the two? They are both listed for an 04 Tahoe, with the 2294 being called out for a Z(flex fuel) engine. Is there an actual difference or just different #'s? I see the 2294 is part of the Professional AC Delco line and I think the other is considered...
