Finally got around to replacing the original spare tire under my 2001 GMC Yukon. I changed out the spare wheel and used one of the two original bright alloy wheels and a $107 Corsa 265/70/16 tire from Discount Tire.
Over a decade ago I upgraded to 18 inch wheels w 275/60/18 tires. The diameter...
You and your gal need a winter place in Arizona. I recommend Fountain Hills. You can live near me. Hey by the way I need some help w a few things on my 2001 Yukon….
My 2001 Yukon exact same. Fuel level reads accurately below 3/4-Tank but when full the level and the low fuel warning light are intermittent. Gage will suddenly read low, and warning light illuminates, for a few minutes then returns to normal.
Chevron fuel treatment concentrate didn’t help...
I got rear ended earlier this week on the Phoenix I-10. No serious damage for my truck but it jacked up the other guy’s Toyota. I do need a new rear bumper and a new bike rack and spare tire. I’m assuming his insurance will handle but if not can use mine.
Can anyone recommend a good...
I use a Sony in my 2001. No volume knob. No CD player. But it fits simple and clean in the dreaded “DIN-and-a-half” location without cutting the metal support bracket because it’s shallow dimension. I’m not sure if 2002 is double-DIN or 1.5-DIN.
I used the Crutchfield prewired harness and...
I didn’t see fuel filter recommended above.
I saw plugs and wires recommendation from Avalonandi. They are normally due at 100K miles so you are right on schedule.
How old is the battery? Should have an installed date code. I don’t mind running my battery to failure (can usually see it...
I didn’t read the whole thread in detail so you may have already resolved LED cruise control issue.
LED brake lights will absolutely disable cruise control. I found that a single incandescent bulb in the center top (third) brake lamp or the Left/Right enclosures; and LED bulbs in other...
You might need a collision loss consultant to help you get a fair replacement value for your truck. Our GMT800s have a wide range. I have not used this guy but I follow him on FB and seems like he knows what he is talking about. Flat rate $500 but he usually gets a few thousand more for the...
I run 275/60/18 on my 2001 with no problems. Plenty of clearance and the overall diameter is equal to OEM 275/70/16 so my speedometer is true. It’s not a max aggressive setup but hopefully it’s helpful info for you.
Apple CarPlay is awesome. Everything already said but also the voice interface is intuitive and reliable. If your GF is on the Apple infrastructure then it’s the way to go. But I think you say she’s on Android. In that case Sony is still a good option but it’s wired not wireless. Also, my...
Can’t go wrong with Bilstein B6-4600 for stock OEM neutral lift and general riding around on a mix of highways, streets, fire roads and double-track. There are a lot of good options but I think this is best bang for the buck. Less than $100 each.
Paper cones and foam surrounds on all four door speakers and the subwoofer will begin to degrade after about ten years, until the foam is essentially gone. Time for new speakers. I used Polk Audio 6.5 in rear doors; Polk 8” subwoofer, Memphis Audio 2.75 in rear pillar and GM Genuine in front...
Wired up my aftermarket amp. I’ve got anther post on that. But also got my monthly update from Carvana on their offer to buy: $500 wot?!?!?
A while back I was looking around selling my 2001 YukonSLT before spending this year’s maintenance and service budget on cooling system and struts. As best...
I did my front struts at 110K and 170K. I’d do the struts. Even if you just use Monroe. The 4W alignment will cost you more than 2X Monroe struts. Plenty of good options on your struts. I used Bilstein B4600.
Regardless whether you do the shocks, don’t forget the bumps. Whenever the struts go...
Yep “dubs” = 20. But I’m OG so maybe I got that lingo wrong. (DW laughs at me when I try to be Youngblood hip.)
Good looking wheels. Keeping the diameter same on mine was important to me too. I probably will stick w this setup but I see some smoking deals on FB marketplace from time to time on...
Powering the Amp Update : This weekend I finally got around to disconnecting the OEM amp from my 8” Polk Audio subwoofer and wired up a dedicated 1-Channel 300W subwoofer amp from Crutchfield’s store brand (Sound Ordnance) in my 2001.
Don’t try to punch thru the firewall grommet on a GMT 800...
Monroe and Bilstein both have a spring/strut kit but once you buy both you are in Nivomat price territory. If you can find a good one in the junkyard and just replace one, that’s a really good workaround till you get new. Good luck.
