    Lowering Kits

The difference is $300 now. If you replace an autoride once, it’s also the last time as they’ve guaranteed for life. Only a few shock companies do that lifetime thing. I’ve done the Koni on my VW twice since ‘98. Ordering $1,400 in new shocks and getting the same back is awesome. Especially...

    Rebuilt transmission shifting hard

Yes, last year on a trans rebuild by my local Indi shop, 6L80. A quick visit had all the codes reset and a recalibration on something with the scanner. Two weeks later I brought it back and got … Yea, damn. I know what it is I didn’t tighten the jubba dibby tab down tight enough on the...

"Soft" brake pedal when engine running

I didn’t read through the prev2 pages so I may have missed a detail. Our 09 had a gummy, disintegrating vacuum booster hose that was collapsing in on itself. Looked ok from the outside just like the battery cables that rot out inside.

New oil pressure sensor went bad

Im in this club too. New OEM sensor Indi tech sourced local. It reads 0 or races from 40-60 to 100lb +. There’s a guy somewhere testing them.

    Timken SP500301 already bad

Those hub cores are worth a fortune. With the specialty device to disassemble it and cram a new generic bearing in there I’ll bet they’re net‘g about $100 per unit rebuilt.

    Timken SP500301 already bad

SKF bearing are the go to standard for bearings. Use them in my supercharger and alternator hubs on the VW. I was losing alternator bearings every 2-3 years until I had a rebuild shop rebuild my Bosch fact rebuilt alt with SKF bearings. Even the Bosch Auth factory rebuilt bearings were junk or...

    Disable TPMS?

You won’t know you’ve got a flat until the rim has cut a nice slice out of your sidewall. If you have nice tires, it’s the difference between a $35 patch and a $250 mount, balance & tire. Us AWD folks have to deal with wear tolerances at a certain point so buying one new tire and three tires...

    Timken SP500301 already bad

The one you took out has the specs on the bearing and even threatening “warranty void if removed”. Sounds like a good opportunity to remove it and determine what SKF bearings fit in there.

Replace 31 gallon tank with 39 gallon tank from 2500 series Suburban?

My girls love that YT clip. Their main concern was why it didn’t have a tub to catch all the spent casings. I told them that all the trucks with mini guns here in CA don’t litter the shells all over the place like that. They’re captured and recycled.

Arnott Warranty BE ADVISED - BE ADVISED

The days of commitments like that are history. How do you compete with two local shops that rebuild active & passive struts with subpar materials & parts? You can not. Owners who buy those inferior, cheapo z55/95 struts that imminently fail in a few months, fuel the demise of legit companies...

2016 Yukon XL repairs for 100k miles

AWD / 4WD major 100k service interval. Be aware of this TSB also. All eyes on lookout for metal shavings in pan on magnet when removed of this is the first trans fluid change. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10213032-0001.pdf

    Intro-05 Denali Yukon shocks

Try and find the harness that used to connect to the shocks connector. More than likely it has fun size resistors taped into them. If the front shocks still have the harness connected to the top the past owner may have kept the z55 intact.

    Flickering lights

Our 08 YXL Denali did that when the a/c cycled the engine fan to high speed but only on the headlamps. I lived with it until sold it. Still scratching my head on what it was.

    Timken SP500301 already bad

Timkin claims … “Narrow overall package width and reduced radial section thickness lowers unsprang weight, improving vehicle maneuverability and fuel efficiency” They say they’re pre greased. Maybe try and add a little of your own grease before assembly.

    Tires out of round?

Sidewall damage? Not normal and usually doesn’t happen next to the word “injury”. A run flat will do that but not that close to the rim. That tire should be good for a prorated replacement or new tire.

    Front Lower Control Arm Frustration

Since you actually maintain your suspension don’t forget you’ve got the option to swap to the uncommon z71 / 2015+ all aluminum upper, lower C/A and aluminum knuckle combo. It takes about 24lb off each side to lengthen suspension and z55 lifespan. The entire alum UCA & LCA with bushings...

    Transfer case + BCM Error/Failure

Hopefully more issues like this will be followed up on and earmarked as “Resolved” so others will know to first replace the both battery cables no matter how pretty they look (unless it’s already been done). The cables are susceptible to rotting from the inside out. The random fluctuations in...

Arnott Warranty BE ADVISED - BE ADVISED

So keep in mind if you purchased your Arnott struts prior to July 31, 2023 it’s still guaranteed for life and you’re still eligible for one more warranty at ANY time. Otherwise it’s a two year timer if purchased After July 31, 2023. FYI Arnott had at least two of their retailers selling...

Popping noise when taking off from stop.

The water probably acted as a lube for the clunky parts. If / when the noise comes back verify shocks are tightened on both ends and push on the front and rear drive shafts for play.

2014 Tahoe - can you replace the dual AC with a single?

Mods on this forum are great. Considering these trucks are up to up to 18 years old, there a lot of traffic on them. Seems as though they’re going 2-3x their expected lifespan and they’re aftermarket parts are dreamland.
